I learned today there is a thing called Carolina squat You take a domestic truck and either raise the front or lower the back (or both) to create a front which is higher than the rear Google suggests it looks like this The best explanation i've read is it resembles prerunner desert trucks Which obviously use it for clearance and travel My question would have been 'why'? But reading around it it seems it's one of things where people want to link something they admire into their daily ride. Like fitting oversized spot lamps or huge mudflaps for the rally look. It serves no real purpose but reflects your interest into daily life Is this the ultimate silliness or a healthy homage to racing trucks? What do you think?

Heh, I accidentally did that to my 309 when I was a student back in 2001. Had it running super low, then one of the front shocks collapsed - had to put standard springs on the front and couldn't afford to have the rear torsion bars raised again, so it looked like I had a bunch of bodies in the boot. Not a strong look.

Those desert trucks are level(ish), they have just cut the front arches out.

The level sitting desert trucks with wide front track look awesome. I don't like the look of the first ones though, especially the green one.

Mike Brewer and Ed China did a 205 GTi iirc that had the back dropped more than the front for that 'moody' look - I quite liked it hactually lol

Reminds me of many MK2 Escorts, in the late 80's/early 90's, where people put easy to fit lowering blocks on the rear, but couldn't manage to cut the front springs to match!

To me it just looks WRONG!
My preference is low and level (but not deck scrapingly low)
At a pinch I can live with the 70's Hiked rear end, even built 1 or 2 back in the day! Of course they handled like pigs on ice skates, but they LOOKED like drag racers, which was the important thing! After a while, I grew up and realized that England is a country composed entirely of bends and it was a good idea to make my cars to go round them as fast as possible!

Personally, it seems like something you try when you have run out of good ideas. Each to their own tho.

Some of these look like they are about to poop like this... I saw the title and thought it was something you pay extra for in a knocking shop, where you definitely need a shower afterwards. I thought this was called "sit up & beg" stance? Or am I clueless? What does it do for handling? Really not sure I can get on with it. Sortta looks like gassers...

Until this thread I hadn't noticed this; I now see it everywhere. Lifted trucks are the norm here and they seem to all sit this way. Looks wacky to me, I prefer level.

Original Range Rovers and Discoverys have been doing this for years with anything heavier than a decent curry in the back Adrian

Two words popped into my head, and feel free to refer to this phenomenon as such:
Redneck Rake.

I love it when people 'invent' things that have existed for 75+ years by giving them a new, 'cool' name.
