Depending on where the sub is, it could have an affect. Even though the sub could be between the axles, if it is more towards one axle than the other, despite compressing both, one would compress more than the other. I can only think this has changed the angle of the side skirt, not raised one end, and this has enabled it to pass over the hump without catching.
Another theory is that it was never the skirt catching, but a very creaky bit of suspension that has benefited from having more weight put in it.
Here is an experiment to try - if you reverse on the drive, does it scrape again?

It was definitely the skirt as in the past I've got out to check the point of contacts - I've also got the black plastic underskirt rash to prove it!  When I reverse it's difficult to replicate the same angle of approach to be honest. I've reversed straight on and that definitely scraped but then I think if I drove straight on forwards it would still scrape. |

Well i would say the angle of the skirt has changed so that it is more parallel to the pavement and therefore "moves up" it at the same rate of incline.
This has got everyone pondering hasn't it!
