The 120V outlet was a leftover from when we got it. It was on an extension cord that had a plug out the back of the van. Someone used it to power something while parked. It's coming out. Also- I have the actual engine cover from the original van. I'll modify it to work, covering the engine and heating system. I hope. Going to check out a lifted jeep tomorrow and a lifted Hummer, someone I know wants to sell them and I just might be able to shift 'em for them. Back to the steel junk late Saturday or early sunday!

Going outside to start welding in the dirt. But here are a few pictures for you to enjoy! A lifted Hummer and a Lifted Jeep. Proper suspension lifts on both vehicles, both with Pro Comp Tires. 2016 Jeep, manual trans, V6 with 2k miles. That's right, 2,000 miles. The Hummer? 2006 with 30K miles and both vehicles have never seen snow, ice or rain. Mint, not a scratch on either. Both vehicles likely to end up on Fleabay very soon.

Please don't take offence at this but "I'm glad to say even modern vehicles in the US are just as boring as in the UK"
What you are doing to the van is great to see.

True- but these are cool because they are both suspension lifted and super low miles. It's all about the tires! The tires are big bucks- Pro Comps. I love em. These belong to my boss and since I'm a bit of a hillbilly, I love big knobby tires. Hang on a sec- I've done more work to the inside of the van. The engine cover structure has begun...

Need a bead roller so you can copy the engine cover on to the battery cover.

Just under 4 weeks to go, before we try and drive it 12 hours from Ohio to TN. We are literally going to point it south and take it to a HUGE car show in the southern states. It'll either be a big hit or a laughing stock, but either way- we're taking it! I have some days to work on it this week, going back out there now. More as it happens...

The framework for the engine cover or "doghouse" is in place and the floor under the driver's compartment is almost finished. Hung the doors so I can begin the door step foot wells. I needed to hang the doors because there really wasn't enough metal left to get a good measurement. So I made the doors function nice and smooth so I could frame in the bottom edge. I got bored and mounted an International Harvester Horn button on the steering wheel. I wanted to do something different. Something I had not yet done on one of these swaps. I see these all the time. I see them on all kinds of street rods, customs, rats- you name it- They're all over the place. I wanted to se if I could make one. So I did! I love the attitude it gives the van. It sort of corrects the rolling top edge and defines it, rather than sloping down like the fat side of an egg. I present to you; The Windscreen VISOR! Taking shape this Racing Milk Van....

if my old work colleague was still here he would say that visor makes the van look "more rape-ey" or to put it more politically correct, the lead character of a horror movie might drive it

Well, Halloween IS rapidly approaching!
I think it looks cool, makes it sort of "mean". Wheel covers, bumpers etc- it's going to be a fun ugly giant.
There's a lot of floor patching and welding yet to do. I'm doing the radiator later this afternoon, so we can let it reach temperature and fill it with coolant. I think it'll be interesting to see what the next owner does with it!

That butchs it up a bit at the front, just needs a massive iron girder of a bumper at the front to give it a proper shin-busting Dan Dare chin.

I wiped off the rust and cleared it. It looks darker and matches a bit better now. Birthday weekend so I bet very little gets done. Unless you're counting empty beers. P

Paul, As you are going to have to repair the rear arches can I suggest cutting the out and moving them back to centralise the wheel in the arch? Fronts could be done by adding a little metal to the rear of the front arch, if you see what I mean! Happy Birthday!!!!! Did you get the wing mirrors for your birthday?!?!?!? P.
