Up for grabs today is my 1989 Graphite Grey Peugeot 205 GTI project. I bought this back in January 2016 where I had seen the car sat in a drive locally for years, it hadn't been touched since around 2008 so I went about purchasing it and getting it back on the road again.
I found the car to be very solid all things considered, the usual places these cars rot hasn't taken hold which was a good sign the paintwork naturally has gone a bit funny on the roof as expected but otherwise isn't terrible.
I had the car recovered and the engine was in the process of being partially stripped before even attempting to start the car to make sure everything was okay, the engine turns by hand freely and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong at all - from the pictures we can see that the engine will need the included parts bolting back on and the air pipes, loom, throttle and clutch cable etc refitted which shouldn't be an issue for anyone knowing their way around these cars - I may possible start putting it back together before it's sold if I have the time (which I usually don't hence the sale)
I think every important part needed to get the car going is present, the interior of the car is very good, the front and rear seats have held up very well but considering this car covered 89,000 before being laid up, I'd expect a cleanish interior.
I had the rear axle beam changed on this car so there's no worries there, the original was seized, I also had the brake lines re-done as well as the front suspension sorted out so in reality, this car looks a little scary from the photos but a lot of hard work has been done already and the option is there to rebuild the engine should you want or put the bits back on again and get it running as it is now - it's your choice.
It's a pretty original example with the 1.9 Speedline alloy wheels (tyres are good, one needs pumping back up) original amber indicators, grey coloured trim kit, half leather seats, red carpet, disc brake rear axle, glass sunroof and even in the unfinished state it currently sits, you can see there's a stunning car there with a little time and work.
I've got one key for the car but the previous owner lost the V5 so this needs re-applying for, full receipt will be given though, I've checked the VIN number against the lookup database and it comes back as it should describing this car.
I don't want silly offers on this car, sure you can get a 1.6 GTi as a project cheaper than this possibly, but let's face facts - it's a 1.9 you really want and these aren't as cheap as they once were now - get this one running and theres no doubt money to be made upon next sale.
