So
i've decided to sell my Volvo 850 not had it that long, but i've pretty much finished doing everything that I plan to, I'm in no rush to sell at all so i'm not really open to silly offers, but p/x is possible if you've got something interesting!
So she just passed an MOT today, i think they should have put 13 months on the MOT not sure why they didn't because the MOT wasn't up until august i think but anyway, passed without needing any work, and a few advisories, will get a pic of MOT sheet tomorrow when its a bit nicer outside, there were a few advisories nothing much. One of the ones that needed doing that I had already planned on getting sorted was the rear most exhaust bracket had corroded and fallen away, pretty common on these if they're still running their original exhaust, I usually get my mechanic to just weld a U clamp with a bit of metal so i can put some new rubber mount on, I'll do this possibly before the sale if i get chance.
the other minor issue is; I just bought a really nice set of T5 V70 wheels (Phase 1, so perfect fit, no rubbing like the P2 stuff) they're all in very nice condition with very good matching pirelli tyres on, however unfortunately 1 wheel could not be balanced, i've never seen anything like this before because all alloys look perfect, no obvious damage but it must be bent slightly or something, i don't know, maybe it can be repaired, it looks immaculate to the eye and the tyre is also very good. these alloys are quite popular so i was just planning to grab one when i found one for sale locally, however you only notice any judder/shake (minor) when you're going over 80 so does it really matter? personally I like everything to be perfect on my cars so it bothers me still, but it's not a pressing issue.
other than that she seems good, the body is the worst part, there's a bit of corrosion on both wings (nearside being the worst with a small hole) this is also common on these 850s, however the body is still very presentable with only a small dent on the offside rear arch not really noticeable.
so this is the old man spec, 2.5 L 10valve 5 cylinder, i believe it's somewhere around 140 bhp, and feels gutless until you really get over 3500 rpm, however its' very surprising how well she moves when you get into the higher revs. around 138,000 miles on the clock which, again, is very low for one of these, i've had 850s with around 300,000 miles on that drove great, so plenty of life left.
I've done quite a bit since getting her including, fully properly cleaning the whole boot panels/carpets (panels out shampoo/scrub job) removed the doggy smell, and they all came up good as new, no damage and the carpet has come up great.
i also wired in a cheap dashcam that I had around, its a chinese thing that was very cheap, but it works, and it's got a quality 30 gb (i think) micro SD card in, all this will be included in the sale since i CBA removing it, as it's wired into the dash, (headlining /a pillar/behind dash) going to the cigarette lighter) there's also a second cigarette lighter that the old owner wired in for a phone charger, I was going to use this one to make the install tidier, however i found out that it's alway on, so i instead used this for my phone charger (its a samsung S6 charger with fast charge cable/converter but i believe it will fit lots of different phones) I also bolted a phone holder to the old ashtray to make it a bit neater.
there's a reversing camera on the tailgate too, that the old owner installed, it works just fine, and the screen turns on when you shift into reverse, not much else to say.
Nice sony aftermarket head unit with BT phone (microphone on A piller) works well (better than my sprinter van hand's free infact) also has auxiliary input and bluetooth streaming which is nice.
Again this is pretty much a base spec 850, although it does have an electric sunroof, (old headlining on the sunshade was ripped and falling off so i replaced it). basic 4 speed heater controls, electric/heated mirrors, and front electric windows, EVERYTHING works on the car, i opened the window switch and gave the contacts a very good clean as the buttons were VERY sticky and worked 1/10 times you pressed them, this fixed it perfectly) obviously has heated mirrors/rear screen. rear wiper also works, and i unblocked the rear screen wash and installed a new 1 way valve.
Also since the last owner had to remove the tailgate trim every clip was broken so i installed the tailgate repair kit, and it's perfect now. has a full size spare and jack.
I also did the window tint myself, i've done it around 4 or 5 times before on my old cars, and am getting better, it's still an amateur job with a few imperfections (the worst being the rear window) but I'm impressed with how well i did it, it looks quite tidy and from a couple of feet away immaculate, iirc it's 30% on the cargo area and 50% on the passenger windows.
all drains have been unblocked/cleaned, removed the broken headlight wipers/washers + motors, re-blacked bumper trims, Tcut the whole car (didnt make that much difference) new plates,Also quite rare the glove box works ! interior is tidy with cloth seats, carpets and seats looks good no damage as far as i can see. I also have the old set of wheels that came with the car, i believe they were also from a p1 V70 I would sell them for an extra 50£.
Can't think of anything else, if you're interested calls/texts welcome 07954 522 146.
