As some of you might remember, I used to own a Fox body Mustang. I bought it in June of 2015 to use while I finished the work on my Dodge Charger, almost a year to the day, a mate in Cornwall made me one of those offers that leaves you thinking, will it be worth more this time next year or will the market collapse before then. So, I sold it. This meant that I needed something else to use until the Charger was finished, that's when this materialised, Now, believe it or not, there's any amount of fun to be had with this one.

I really like that! Very smart looking indeed. What are the plans with it? Just use and have fun as is? It is certainly crying out for that rear bumper to be tucked Can't say I have seen many of this era El Camino before, but I like it!

Having found the Camino, the previous owner advised that it was up and running, all solid and just needed a headlining and carpet. So I agreed to buy it and arranged to have it picked up and brought home. A few days later, I got a phone call saying it was ready to pick up ( see what I did there ) from my mates yard and to bring some fuel as it had run dry while getting loaded on the wagon to come home. Having put some fuel in and got it started, I jumped in and just as I was leaving the yard, it started raining, turned the wipers on and nothing happened. Tried a couple more times, still no joy! Fortunately, my mates yard is only about a mile away from my house, so I wasn't too concerned about driving home in the rain with no wipers. I also discovered on the way home that the speedometer doesn't work, the fuel gauge doesn't work, the rev counter is missing, the temperature gauge doesn't work, however, the voltmeter, radio and demister / heater / AC does work. The front indicators didn't work at all which turned out to be caused by a blown bulb and bad earth, both front indicators are now working. It is solid though, and it does need headlining and carpet.

All the cool ones seem to have been made pre and post '74, have to agree that there don't seem to be too many around over here, not that I've seen either. it really is ridiculous how far both bumpers stick out at the sides, I now know why a certain Mr Foose always seems to cut and tuck them. Plans keep changing every time I look at it, currently I'm thinking it needs that '70s rake, some graphics just to break up that gorgeous satin black paint a little, and I'm leaning towards a set of zoomie exhausts.......but, we'll see.

I do believe that there are a few places that will sell you a tucked rear bumper for that El Camino, but all the examples I could find used corvette (C5 I think) rear lights and I didn't want to be responsible for posting that mashup on this thread!

Don't worry about posting a mash up on here, never been a fan of keeping things original. There's nothing that shouldn't be modified, lol

Hi George, I really like your escort, especially the work you did on the roof rack. Glad you like the truck, stay tuned it's bound to get interesting. Updates might be a little slow due to four other cars and a shed to finish, but it'll get there

Well, after nearly two years since my last post, due to some personal issues that I was forced to deal with, there’ll be no further posts on this thread

Its a shame to hear that matey, so much promise. There must of been a very good reason for doing so and can only hope everything turned out for the best. I too had to sell my beloved e30 convertible just to pay rent as i lost my job.....so i now buy hot wheels and modify them. My fix sorted.
All the best👍🏽

Sadly, it wasn’t sold. I would have loved to still have it, but when my wife left me she took it with her. However, I’ve still got my Charger.

Just read this week about a guy losing a truck to his wife. The only way I would find that “excusable” is if she were a full on petrol head and drive the wheels off it. Sadly, often they are spite or financial acquisitions I trust you are in a good place, despite all that

Now though, I’m working again and have money in the bank. I’m getting there slowly and have plenty to keep me busy. Still find it hard coming back to an empty house that used to be full of life, not to mention waking up in an empty house as well. I’m led to believe that things will get easier though

Sorry to hear about your recent dramas. After caring for her all this time and putting her needs above your own, its time to make your life and wellbeing your no.1 priority. Have mates who have gone through similar and while a struggle (especially mentally) at first, all have come out of it better off in the long run. Just remember no matter how hopeless everything seems now, there are greener pastures ahead.
