I'd take the sills and bumpers off and confirm the 'need a bit of welding to the sills' isn't worse. CHeck the front spring perches because they ALL let go, and usually the entire bottom 18" of a W210 eventually turns into fine French cheese.
Also if the brakes aren't up to your expectations W203 4-pot callipers fit

I made a start today on making it look as good as it can before the work on the corrosion starts. The thought 'polishing a turd' came to mind at the start, but when I'd finished this afternoon, I actually thought to myself that it didn't look half bad. If I can tidy up the brown, crusty bits at the edges, it'll look pretty decent. Overall, the shine has come up nice, although the clay bar, and my hands, were properly black when I'd finished a pass over the car... I think the car was covered in some sort of oil or tar. Anyway, after the clay, I washed it again, and got a layer of Autoglym Super Resin Polish on it. Don't think it's worth spending much time waxing it. It's going in for paintwork in around September anyway. Well....maybe one layer... So, some pics of the not so good bits... Worst is under the front grille... Monoblocks are in pretty decent shape. There is a receipt for a refurb two or three years ago. Two of them are pretty much perfect, the rear two could do with some scuffs sorted. Tyres are budgets, but matching pairs, and have decent tread on them. They've given me no grip (or lack of) concerns so far. Not sure whether the tinted front windows are factory, but they look a bit dark, so before investigating further, my hunch is that they could be tint film that might be slightly illegal. A few interior shots... Engine bay tomorrow weather and time permitting.

I like a light tint on silver cars, as yours has a blue tinge to it makes me think it's an aftermarket affair, and not a good one at that. Tinted windows as dark as that on a silver car rarely work in my eyes. I look forward to where this goes in your hands, you have a very good oem vibe when you go about your cars.

Tints need to go for me as well. I hope there aren't any nasty surprises lurking under those scabs. It's a real shame these rusted so badly although most of the ones that you still see running around seem to be in pretty good nick. Best of luck.

I might consider losing the front tints, but I'm leaning towards leaving the rear ones. Quite like them.

I was told that this three lock set up on the boot was the 'Jewellers' optional extra for extra security. Anyone know much about it?

I was working in a Mercedes bodyshop when these cars were a couple of years old And I've had a soft spot for them ever since Great noise and lots of grunt my only dislikes was the traction control that you can't completely switch off and it needs a LSD to much torque for a std diff hence the traction control always kicking in
And all 210s had rust problems Mercedes corrosion warranty paid my wages (new doors/boot//wings etc)
Well worth doing up and keeping

Love it! Reminds me of my old rs turbo, it was a great 10ft car, up close it had similar rust but from 10ft it looked like a minter, and i learn't to love that about it, it taught me to live in the moment and just enjoy it!

Very easy to do, just mask up edges of body panels and keep the lenses wet. Did my c320 last year and what a transformation. Used a window polish at the end to give a shine .
