For sale is my Trabant Kombi. It is UK registered, Mot'd until 03/18, V5 present and in my name. 2 sets of keys. 99983km (will increase as it is used)
I had no intention of selling this car and have spent a fair bit of time and money improving it. However with another Trabant and a Wartburg waiting in the wings I cannot keep or use them all.
I have driven it all over the UK and would have no qualms about going anywhere in it. It starts first time, drives very nicely, the brakes work well.
Listed below are the parts replaced and work done in my ownership. (Most receipts present)
•General service items including plugs, leads, air filter and fan/alternator belt.
•Inner and outer driveshaft gaiters
•New indicator/horn stalk
•New swivel joints (both sides)
•New battery
•New seat covers
•2 new door seals
• Gearbox oil change
• Steering rack and swivel joints greased twice a year.
All of these parts mean the car is ready to get in and drive away, however there are some small jobs that need doing (there always will be with an old car). The main beam relay sometimes works and sometimes does not. I have a new one that can go with the car.
The speedo backlight bulb has stopped working, again I have the bulb to go with the car.
The speedo cable is due to be greased, it can get noisy on a long journey. These are all relatively simple and common jobs on a Trabant. I would be dishonest if I said I will fix them as I probably won't have the time.
Structurally and bodily the car is good. There is no rot underneath, the sills and floorpan are all excellent. The front floorpan has been replaced at some point in the past. If required I can have the car put up on a ramp for you to inspect. The car has been resprayed at some point and there are a few blemishes in the paint. Most notably flaking underneath the number plate holder on the rear panel. Overall it still looks nice and presentable.
All 4 tyres are in good condition with excellent tread.
I encourage you to view the car and make sure it is what you want. A Trabant is not the car for you if you are not prepared to get involved with preventative maintenance. Feel free to bring along someone to inspect it. I can take you for a spin.PM me for my number. Thanks
