I literally did exactly the same thing but my drive is concrete so i couldn't just dig it up! Old oil bottle with the side cut out decided to split when it was 3/4 full. If that ever happens to me, I head straight for the cats litter tray. It makes the neighbours raise an eyebrow when they see you run from the house and throw the contents of the cats sh1tter at the car but it absorbs a lot of oil. Ever considered picking up the unused bag of cat litter instead ?
Just bought a bag (no cat involved) after an 'incident' with some gearbox oil in the workshop. Coke can help lift stains on the concrete by the way, ask my wife how after I left an axle to fall over and drain out all over the (connected) garage and stunk the house out with the lovely smell of EP90. I did not on pain of death spot the puddle of oil creeping out under the garage door as I left for work....

I was the same with my ZT never removed an old oil filter so carefully in my life. Instead I had one of those 'embarassing moments' I drained the oil out of the sump into an old washing up bowl which turned out to be cracked. Gallon and a half of curse word old oil all over my gravel drive that I had just put a tonne of gravel down on. I had to dig the oily gravel out and ditch it at the tip. What was a very quick job ended up being a long and expensive one. Why?

I only use spent litter. It's getting launched anyway. I don't think my OCD would allow a product intended for another use be used for something else when it needn't be...

The clumping litter is the best for car fluid spills. The recycled wood stuff is best for cats in the house...

Just had a phonecall off my grandad, he's come out the shop to find his mirror dangling and his driver's door caved in, that's really grinding my gears.

Ditto my Jag. However, the most annoying ones I did myself. There is a scrape on the bumper from manhandling a CRV exhaust into the boot and a deformed bit where I reversed into the stupid fence at my office. Both torture me every time I wash the thing.

Loving how subtle the aftermarket tow bar is on this Twingo, can barely notice it

That's because there's an engine right behind the bumper.
I bet a Porsche 911 tow bar would look fairly similar!!!

Captive metal nuts inside plastic housings, especially annoying when used in a corrosive environment so they always break the plastic. I can't remove my headlights now.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but one design annoyance (that's present in numerous cars, vans and trucks) is a badly placed hazard warning light switch. My current daily has a switch that you can easily push when adjusting the centre air vent and to make it worse, it's a feather touch switch.
It's really annoying. Occasionally.

My first car (a Mk 1 Cavalier) the button was on the top of the stearing coloum, you had to reach through the wheel to get at it. Conversely, my dads V70, the button was in the centre console, at the same level as the gear lever knob. With big hands you could punch the button going into 3rd. My family have big hands.....

To change a clutch you have to drop the subframe. The front two bolts for this screw into a captive nut inside chassis leg, this captive nut is held in place by large plastic cage. Image the fun involved when bolt is seized in nut and plastic cage disintergrates.

After fixing it; the switch holders on the right of the dashboard on a MK2 Fiesta. I think I might have mentioned it before, but these just seem so brittle and not only that, it is combined with switches that do CLUNK and are forceful. Meaning over time with the plastic degrading partially, they can snap the plastic behind it....leaving the bits to go into the where the panel meets the facia. I only recently got some of the pieces that fell inside and glued it altogether. Still isn't right, though.
Some people think it's a little detail, but it's pretty big to me!
