£1500 Mercedes Benz w123?
I'm going to say; "hiding a lot"
They rot, lots, and in obscure and hard to reach places.
I say this as someone who has worked and supported dad's going through restoration twice in 15+ years of ownership.
And his was "a solid one".
Amazing cars, but rot.

I was gonna say I'm all over that first early spec 190, but to be honest I'm all over all the cars in this thread!

Luther Vandross had a Volvo 740? Lex Luther? I have no idea what Luther they're referring to in the advert.

Ah.. that does make more sense of it. Thing is, it's not the right Volvo is it? That's like telling people you've got a Delboy Van when it's actually a Rialto.

Speaking of which, the actual 'Only Fools ... ' van is for sale! I think the Volvo is a 740, as per ad. Some model year differences perhaps?

Technically the eBay one and the telly one are both 740s, but the telly one is a much later model so you've got different lights and stuff. Delboy Reliants make me cross. Who keeps making them? Who keeps BUYING them? Grrrr. Here's a Rialto that isn't Delboy'd but probably will be once it sells. Should stay in budget. Someone do the right thing and treat it to some interesting mods rather than yellow paint and black vinyl graphics. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Reliant-rialto-hse-/222588242989

I've never understood how Reliant could produce a car as stylish & desirable as the Scimitar and yet also spew out offerings such the Robin??

The Regal, Robin, et al all preceded the Scimitar and just like many other manufacturers before them they had to make their impact with something cheap and cheerful before they could build a 'proper' car. That said, when you look at the other three-wheeled offerings when the Regal came out, it was a huge improvement and offered a much nicer way to get about for the driver on a tight budget. Don't dismiss them too readily, they have their shortcomings, certainly, but they can be an awful lot of fun to pilot.

I can't tell you how much I wanted one when I was 16 as they can be driven on a motorbike licence.
