Hi guys! I´m Santiago from Argentina and I own this white Land Rover Discovery Tdi. 350.000kms and counting. Still rides strong and it´s a really fun truck to drive especially off-road!!!
I bought it about 4 years ago to a guy who imported it from Germany. I restored her to my specific taste and now we enjoy it travelling with the family. It came equipped with a Webasto heater DBW46 which I´m servicing right at this moment since its a great thing to have in our southern cold days. You don´t see these heaters much around here.

We've got a Discovery V8 owner from Peru on here and me with a Range Rover in the Philippines.
Good to see some more British tin a long way from home!
How do you go on for parts in Argentina?

I have this one plus 2 Defenders 300tdi so I know very well these engines and transmissions. If you take good care of them they´ll last a long long time. We have dry climate around here mostly so rust is not a major issue where I live. But they do tend to rust pretty bad. Have to check under the carpets in the front and check the chassis also. Defenders are almost 100% aluminum so they rust much less but again chassis and firewall are there weak points. In Argentina there are plenty of Discoveryies and Defenders. Being Defenders all Diesels (300tdi, Td5 and Puma) and Discos are 95% diesel and just a few came with V8 engines around here. Mostly manuals but we have automatic Discos in both engines tdi and V8. Air suspension and everything else was ok. Parts around here are not major problem, we have a couple of importers that have good stock for all LR models, at least basic stuff. 300Tdi engine is not a problem around here for parts since we are in the Land of Maxion International (Argentina and Brasil used to made them) and plenty of pickup trucks and vans use this engine all over the country, so as we say "we can get parts even in Drugstores" for these motors. I don´t need to go to Brazil, I can get them here since there where made in both countries. As a matter of fact I have one in one of my Defenders. Plus we can get all the internals to convert the original 2.5 300tdi to 2.8 very easy. Many of us in Argentina have gone that way also. Original block with everything from the 2.8. The problem is that a 2.8TGV well tuned ends up in different transmission problems. Clutches broken and even Gearboxes also don´t match up with the new HP and torque figures. Cheers,

Sounds okay on parts. To be fair, Discovery's may be better served here, but P38's are few and far between so little is stocked for them but of course, engine parts for everything LR are an import job.

Air-con isn't too bad and I don't think there's much special about the actual mechanics of it. On the '38 your problems start if it's the evaporator (dash out) or the blend motors start to play up, which needs the skills of a gynaecologist! I've replaced condenser and dryer fairly easily, just managed to get the wrong sized o-rings, but it did work happily until the gas disappeared!
10 minutes with a specialist here would have it sorted. I'll get around to it one day.
Anyway, back to your Discovery. Keep the pics coming.
