rear wheel bearings for my spacewagon are ridiculous money-£150-£170 etc as they come already pressed into the hub assembley
I'm guessing that they are interference fitting and are pressed in by press
would there be any other reason why i cant find out the bearing size and just fit it myself?

If you have access to a press and can be sure of the condition of the hub, no. Bearings on cars are almost always standard off the shelf items. Get the number and look it up. I've done that for many years. Car manufacturers don't bother making bespoke bearings by and large though doubtless there are exceptions. You will find that the bearings are identical, just re-boxed.

i guess if the hub is knackered then the bearing is pretty much going to just plop itself out-otherwise it'll be a compete pain in the ass to get out as I'm guessing that there isnt much access behind to get a drift in.
i use to buy bearings off the shelf for motorbike head races and wheels for years when i realised you can just go direct to a bearings supplier with some numbers.
not at lot online about spazwagons, nothing about this million pound hub assembly. havent even seen it to be honest. just had a couple of tyres fitted today and had the movement showed to me by a mechanic.
you spelt 5lb hammer and socket wrong by the way : )
