Regrettable sale of my cherished 1994 Nissan Maxima (code J30). Such a lovely car to cruise about in, but quick when you need it to be. I've had the car for 18 months, done lots to it, fixed a few things and waxed the heck out of it. The colour is fantastic, especially when the sun picks up the metallic flakes in it.
One of less than 10 left in the UK.
Top of Nissan's UK range between 1988 and 1994.
79,500 miles
MOT until 16th September 2017 (zero advisories last year, and only 2000 miles done since).
3 litre V6 (170bhp)
30mpg if you drive carefully
Automatic with power and economy modes
Double Din Pioneer head unit might stay with it if asking price is met.
17" Rota style alloys with grey centres and Nissan centre caps
Recent Falken tyres all round with tons of tread
Private Plate (J30 MXM)
Electric ariel in rear wing still works
Power steering
Cruise Control
Climate Control
Air-con (needs regas)
Full black leather interior, with electric adjustment
Electric Windows (x4) (drivers window has a separate button for auto one touch up/down).
Electric Sunroof
Electric Mirrors
Central locking with the key
Two keys
Lowered at the front with rare USA sourced Eibach lowering springs (rear springs will go with the car)
USDM Front Corners with orange flash
USDM Meshed and badge-less grille
USDM floating burger badge grille will also go with the car
USDM dial cluster will go with the car
USDM Wind deflectors (rare)
New battery 01/17
Replacement bonnet struts 01/17
Strut brace
All auxiliary belts etc have been replaced.
Recent replacement injector sourced from USA. Now running super smoothly
Original two piece head unit and other OEM parts (e.g. Euro/UK front grille and front corners) will go with the car.
Bad bits to be honest:
*The rear OS window is propped up inside the doorcard. I bought two new window regulators last year. The one fitted to the NS front window fixed that one. The one for the OS rear window worked for about 10 times up and down, the failed again. Could be a simple relay or fuse issue.
*The gas pedal sometimes feels a bit sticky. It's probably the butterfly valve in the throttle body which needs a spray of carb cleaner.
*Crack in the sunroof glass, but it's not moved a millimetre in 18 months.
*The end of the drivers side sill has a touch of surface rust, but it's not structural.
*One sidelight doesn't work when the ignition is on, but it works when the engine is off. The main beam works fine, so the side light issue has never bothered me as I either have only the main beam on or off.
*Each panel has tiny little imperfections (small dents or scratches), so I wouldn't call it truly 'mint', but the imperfections are very small, and you only see them if you know they are there. Just being honest.
*The timing belt was replaced at 61,515 miles, but it was nine years ago, so should really be done. New timing belt and tensioner are supplied with the car.
*There's not a great deal of paper history with the car. I have all the recent receipts, and there's most of the MOT'S back to 2002. I've collected some original brochures and manuals too.
I have the original 15" alloys with tyres, which could go on, or with, the car if the offer is fair. Ideally they need a rub down and Polish, but nice to have with the car.
If I've forgotten anything, I'll update asap. Here's a link to the full thread of my 18 month love affair with it, and the progress I've made.
Geordie's Maxima Build Thread
To sum up: A rare old Nissan, less that 10 left, low mileage, top of the range spec and cracking condition.
SENSIBLE offers considered from fellow Retro Riders of course. Difficult to value, but I've priced this considering it's rarity, condition, low miles and spec. Hit me with an offer.
