Booked a week in a B&B in Cornwall with a mate when I was 18 back in the early 80's, only to find I hadn't actually booked it had I, as we found out when we got there, so the two of us spent a week 'living' in my clapped out Fiat 127 at various beach car parks in and around Newquay!
Life was simple back then.

When I posted this thread I was in a bad place and sleeping in the car, the question was actually a "can I successfully live in my car" as I had no option.

"You can live in your car but you cant race your house"
was a sticker in a 90's car mag of either max power or revs

I've done it a few times, intentionally and not.
My Dad used to get Prius's as company cars in the late 2000s, used to take them to Santa Pod and throw a single mattress in the back, cut some foam board out to cover the ear windows and hang a towel between the front seats. Worked well and most of them had the solar roof so you could have some ventilation going without the engine running. Was better than sleeping in a tent while drum and bass and limiter bashing novas drove around.
First every trip out to Germany we cocked up dates and ended up hotel-less for night 1 - me and a mate slept in my Alfa Mito for a night!
Done it a couple of times in my W205 estate C class when towing my track car to a track day. Empty the car of curse word, self inflating mattress, thick duvet underneath and duvet and pillows on top, was always an OK night, just the light wakes you up but you're normally up early at those sorts of days anyway.
I struggle to start the day without a shower so apart from the Alfa I've always made sure I'm near a shower (even if you do have to pay a fiver for the privilidge at Santa Pod!)

This should* be a comfortable place to sleep in. None of the previous occupiers have complained Heard they’re dead comfy! This thread reminds me of a time me and a couple mates drove down to Pease Bay caravan park to stay in my mates grans caravan. Parked up and went for a fair few drinks In the clubhouse. Went back to the caravan to find his gran had rented it for the weekend and he didn’t know. Woke up about 3 in the morning with my mate fast asleep with his foot on the accelerator of his escort 😂

You know what a Fiero is? I was homeless for 2 months. I also had two jobs. 11pm to 7am I worked as a mechanic in a cosmetic factory, and 8am to 3pm I worked in a hardware store. From 3pm til sunset I slept on a picnic table in the city park or on a blanket under a tree. Sunset I went to the parking lot of my nightshift job. The lot backed up to farm ground and I always parked there in the back farthest from the main door. Not IN the Fiero, but UNDER it! on a blanket. I could see the traffic pull into the lot when it was close to shift change. That was my alarm clock... Luckily, we had a cafeteria in the work place that offered free soup, crackers and tea and sustenance was had. Finally the owner of the hardware store asked me where I was staying so I pointed to the Fiero; he gave me a room in one of his rental houses for cheap... I was eventually buy a house contract for deed and life got better! Oh!, peanut butter and crackers and water was the menu during the day... No tips here, just know there is a brighter day acoming.
