The thing that annoys me about it is that the door skin is separate to the window frame, so the issue would be easily rectified without a new pressing
So the manufacturing 'cost' to have 2 variants of rear door would be a new door frame, glass and corresponding seals, plus whatever assembly levels. Not much in the grand scheme of things...
