Just need some real world feedback rather than sales blurb...please
I have an ancient cheapo Halfords washer and an old but good quality Bosch washer. Neither has a detergent dispenser and the connectors on both don't match anything I can find these days.
I have seen newer washers with foam gun attachments with varying reports of effectiveness.
I have also see newer washers with detergent tanks built in - presumably you don't need a foam gun with them.
I hate washing cars. I don't mind crawling underneath them getting covered in rust, grease and old underseal. But I loathe washing them. So I am looking for a lazy way to keep the dailies looking clean.
Any suggestions / feedback re. new washers please.
Ta.

Never had a single problem with Karcher pressure washers, had my old k2.54 for 10 years and nothing went wrong, I upgraded to a K6 this year as it was a great offer.

having used karchers professional steam cleaning stuff and my own k3 i can assure you they are utter pants for the money. Nilfisk are great as are the petrol offerings from Aldi.

That's your opinion, in my experience they've been faultless and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again and again.

If you hate washing cars so much, why not use a car wash? Ttfn Glenn I only once took a car through a car wash - I wasn't too keen to begin with as I thought they damaged cars. As I watched the rear bumper be ripped off and then caught in the brushes continue to beat itself to destruction across the roof, windscreen and bonnet I came to the conclusion that I would not use one again. It was the boss's car which was a brand new Vauxhall Omega back in the 90's. It's really getting one that creates a good foam that I am after. My old ones will blast dirt of well enough, but there's no foam attachments that will fit them.

A decent foam lance will create good foam from a standard pressure washer, my k2.54 which was years old and at the budget end of karcher range created good thick foam through a ubiquitous foam lance from ebay. The new one is a lot better obviously.

Around here except for one, all the car washes are manual, ( lots of minimum wage jobs) or there's the supermarket buy time pressure washer Ttfn Glenn I have a lidl electric with a tank, works fine but empties the tank quickly

Another vote for Nilfisk, I have an ex hire one that was being thrown out - much better than the expensive Karcher one I have, which was good to start with then after being used a few times gives the impression of being worn out.

Nilfisk are good, Karcher i found overrated, but all have good and bad points.
With all pressure washers though, you need to look after them, the biggest issue is that most are stored in unheated sheds and garages, and never drained before putting them away. In cold winters they can freeze and the resulting ice formation ruins the pump seals. Plus switching them on whilst under pressure can damage the motor etc.

I bought one from Aldi for £80. It's decent, good attachments and powerful.

My Karcher K2 is cack.
VAX often have sales on their remanufactured and clearance stuff, nearly bought a top range one from them for something like £80 until I forgot to click buy and the deal ran out. No idea what they're like though.

I was using karchers, they lasted a year, maybe two if I was lucky. Always stored inside and drained down before putting away. Bought a nilfisk as a replacement for the last broken karcher. That was nearly 5 years ago and it's still going strong, they're so much better quality and it was actually cheaper at the time too.

my Karcher is about 5 years old, no complaints, just a cheapy from B&Q, used large industrial units too without any problems.

Went to use my lidl one, and it had died, the motor wouldn't start unless you spun the motor, ( start capacitor ?) Also the lance was leaking, so decided would probably be almost as cheap to replace than repair, a trawl through amazon netted me a clearance nilfisk, with the advice of this thread aiding the decision. Spent several hours cleaning paving slabs with the included patio cleaner, which looks like it might do a very good job of underbody cleaning Ttfn Glenn

No idea what they're like though. We had a VAX 75% off code going around my work the other day . You could get a bloody good pressure washer with that !
