Hello!
After a hiatus from owning 'retro' / 'modern classics' (i.e. not needing a car) I'm in a position to purchase something cheap but fun (subjective I know). It's a bit early for a midlife crisis I hope but I fancy getting my first car back. As I wrote that car off in West Wales in 2002 I'll have to look for another one... What do you guys think a MK2 polo in MOT'd and reasonable condition (concours not necessary) 'should' be worth? Some people seem to be asking an unreasonably large amount for them, but they're not necessarily selling at these high prices. Are they the 'new' beetle or MK 1 Golf? I'll spend up to around £1200 but I'd like a really good one for that money. I don't mind if it's the square back, 'coupe' or saloon (it was a saloon that I killed).
Anyone on here bought one recently, or had someone offer a certain amount of money for one already owned? I'm not looking to make a quick buck flipping a car, I'd like to use it as a commuter and something I can tinker with (simple mechanics and layout).
Cheers for your time!
