I'm just looking on Halfords site, I think I'll pop down at the weekend at get the tool and a set of valves.
I do feel a bit silly now, I knew that valve was leaking, and I just flicked and wiggled it and when it stopped I assumed it would be ok.

Id just get a complete new valve fitted at tyre shop. I have had a valve just snap off through being perished, and a mate lost the vavle core / thread part while riding. Prob wont even be expensive.

Yeah jaykay that might be a good idea too, it probably won't be much to have them swapped.

IME it's generally a corroded bead surface on the rim that causes this. Or an iffy valve/valve seat (where the valve is fitted) A tyre fitter for £10 will remove the tyre and clean it up but as said powdercoating will eliminate the problem if it is the bead. If I were in your shoes I'd look around for the rims and if the tyres are any good switch them across .

Of the 5 tyres, 2 were staying up as they should. I had a bit of spare time this morning so put the other 3 in the boot of my Audi and took them to a tyre place. Turns out all 3 had different problems. 1 needed a new valve, I did expect this after remembering one of the valves making a hissing sound. Another 1 needed removing, a clean up and refit. The other 1 was badly damaged on the inside wall, so I got a tyre fitted. Came at £30 for a part worn tyre, a clean and refit and a valve, not too bad in the end.
