Just seeing if anyone is interested in my MK2 Escort.
I don't really want to sell it, so the price is firm (it's what it owes me), but thinking practically I have several projects on the go and I'm not going to touch this for a while. I had provisionally sold it to a family friend for the price above, but he needs to find somewhere suitable to work on the car first, which may happen next week or it may not happen until next year, hence seeing if anyone is interested on here.
It is a South African Import (all NOVA documents present and fees paid). To be registered in the UK, it just needs to be MOT'd and then the forms (again all present), sent off. Nothing further to pay to register the car in the UK apart from the cost of the MOT.
The car is complete and quite solid. It's been resprayed in the non-original metallic blue colour, but the original colour is Signal Yellow (still visible under the blue). Needs a few hours welding at most to be road worthy, or longer and a few new panels to be made show-worthy. All depends on what you want from the car. If I keep it and do it, I'd want the latter, but it's a very good shell. Only other thing it would need for MOT would be some attention to the brakes. Needs a new master cylinder. The car stops, but not very well and brakes are very spongy. That aside, the car drives fine and the engine runs as sweet as a nut. No issues at all there.
The interior is serviceable, but again, depends on how far you want to go. The lovely Chocolate Sport trim is all present, but the door cards have been cut for speakers. These are readily available though and not expensive from Aldridge Trim.
One of the tyres loses pressure very quickly. I do have a set of brand new Dunlop Street Response tyres, which cost me £120 trade and I'd be happy to let those go at cost. I haven't fitted them as was going to wait until the wheels were refurbished, but would be happy to fit them to the rims.
One photo of the car as it stands. If anyone is interested, I can get more photos.
It's a very cheap 2dr MK2 1600 Sport for someone. It wouldn't cost a lot at all or take a lot of time to put on the road. It's a good base to make a seriously good car from though.
