Hey there. Well, I don't know anyone from the Rotterdam area, but the RR collective is strong in and around Eindhoven, and a large barn is rented by about six avid rusty car enthusiasts. The Doctor and berendd, perhaps you could say hello? I'm half UK and half Düsseldorf based, but can often be found at the barn - will be there this weekend...

Welcome to our little country!
Once you are relocated give us a shout and you are more than welcome to drop by at the barn for a cuppa.

I'm from the Eindhoven region as well. And also have been a part of the barn community mentioned before.
You can always drop a line. I've made quite a few friends that way.
I also know of one member on here who's english and also relocated to Holland. Don't know how he'd feel about me sharing his name just yet.... so you may even have someone who speaks your language!

Thank you for all the great replies guys. Much appreciated. Hope to meet you all at some point especially as we will eventually move to den Bosch to settle as the girlfrinds uwv is registered there.so very close to Eindhoven. Sadly won't be getting a car straight away as will have to get work etc but will defo ask you guys when I do.
Just out of curiosity are any of you guys ex pats if so how long ago did you move. Have a few questions I'd love to ask as I'm sick of reading article on the net haha.
Also are.there any good car forums like RR in Holland?
I'll try send out a few PM's as well
But again thanks. Makes me feel a little less alone knowing there are fellow rr's out there

We share a barn (earlier mentioned allready) and use(d) the forum to communicate, but that site has gone a bit quiet lately Just stay on here and join in the fun someday in our barn, maybe we can setup a small dutch RR meetup in the south somewhere, as most of the dutchies on here seem to come from below the rivers

Why do you ask for dutch forums when there are so many english speaking kaaskops here on RR already? Or do you speak nederlands already? Ik neit sprekt Nederlands Haha that's a badly educated guess. It could be something apart from neit I forget. I have been learning yes. Tough learning a language at 34 but also great fun. As for why I ask about the forums I just think its always nice to be a bit more integrated. Also meets etc. And always bargain cars. Is it just me is everything 1500 euro and under 300,000 miles or more. Seems nothing like.the UK market for fun cars. But I could be wrong. Just seems you have more of a dealer network there. I could be wrong tho I've all this to learn. Also I know kaas is cheese (I have fallen in love with old cheese salad haha) Not sure on the other word though.

Is testing stringent of there? From what i gathered with talking to people from the UK, testing is about the same in both countries, but in general the dutch law is a bit easier for car guys and insurance doesn't need to know about all your little modifications/it doesn't have in influence on your quote.

2nd hand cars are generally more expensive on the main land yes. And whatever you do, don't buy one from www.jetcars.nl, they have a notoriously bad reputation.

Apart from left hand mirrors and lights. What sorts of costs would be involved if I were to bring a UK car over? Ie register test plates etc?
