It's not quite modifications, but I saw a few other collection style threads so figured it'd be ok. I've collected games and gaming memorabilia for a while now and although the collection isn't huge, I've gained a few special games in the process. First up, the Shelf of Expensive Games™: From left to right: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Approx value £40-£100 on eBay), Panzer Dragoon Saga (£200+), Burning Rangers (£100+), Shenmue (£30-£50), Secret of Mana (£60-£80) I also managed to snag one of these for £40 from a local Gamestation a few years ago. Got home, checked the value and it was worth £150. Still worth about that now. I have a bunch of other stuff, including pretty much every main console since the NES/Master System era, but I don't have any photos currently. Here's a photo of the bookshelf that holds the majority of the stuff though: There's tonnes more tucked away in wardrobes and drawers though. I'll try to document them at some point.

Time for some actual modifying. I have a games room/mancave with a cheapo Ikea coffee table in the middle. Persona 4 is one of my favourite games, so I figured I'd spruce it up a bit. Made myself a giant vinyl sticker at work and transformed this: Into this: I also made this for the wall. It's red and black vinyl on a brushed aluminium sheet:

Love the vinyl work and a great collection you've got there. I've got a bit of retro gaming stuff myself, mainly limited to N64/PS1&2/Dreamcast/Gamecube/XBOX Classic.

Nice, as an avid gaming I'll give this some love! What's that on the top right of your shelf? A helmet from the Fallout power armor?

It's the Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles from the Prestige Edition (shown here with my PS4 headset): They work quite well for what they are, although the field of view is a bit narrow.

Ohhh my bad, couldn't see it as it was dark. I remember them, always wondered how good they were.

Nice collection pal, not long since I sold my Dreamcast and N64, still got my PlayStation One and a stack of games with it. I bought an Original Xbox for £15 the other week as a project to fit into an arcade cabinet.

I bought an Original Xbox for £15 the other week as a project to fit into an arcade cabinet. I've got a Raspberry Pi filled with SNES/Mega Drive games that I'm tempted to do the same with. Just don't really have the space for a full cabinet, so I've been tempted to make a tabletop machine instead, or maybe make some sort of handheld device or something.

Love this sort of thing, I have fond memories of playing my cousins saga master system, then when he upgraded to mega drive we used to have a blast on micro machines!! Myself I was always a Nintendo man, my first console was a second hand NES, I never had a SNES, and we had a family N64 that amazed us with its graphics, my dad still has that n64 and plays command and conquer on it!!!
Love to see all these, do you actually play them or are they for display purposes only?

Golden eye was the best game for the N64. Used to play that for hours on my mates.

First system was a ZX Spectrum, which I still have, then I moved on to the Mega Drive, then the Saturn and Dreamcast. Now I've got all the major consoles, so I can catch up on everything I've missed from the other offerings. My consoles mainly sit in drawers, but occasionally I'll get one out to play a certain game. I just got Shenmue 2 on the original XBox, so I'll probably play that next. I've been meaning to play Skies of Arcadia Legends on the Gamecube too. I've actually got a 24 hour marathon for the Teenage Cancer Trust coming up, which we're holding at Arcade Club in Bury, so hopefully I'll get some time to play them then.

I sold most of my hoard last year (boxed nes, gameboy sp, games for both and Atari 2600) as I just had too much stuff to use and present properly so I cleared the room of shelves and piled up clutter and now I just have this setup on a desk and ready to use... About 20 games in all, I need a few more that I had as a child for nostalgic purposes but wary of having too many and not knowing what to play when I have a spare hour or two. I also have a raspberry with retro pie setup which tends to live in my bus during the summer for car shows and in the house during winter.

Ooh will be bookmarking this. I had a Commodore 64 when I was young, my mum thought because it was old and I didn't play it she'd throw it out. I could throttle her now! haha.

Always loved Commodore stuff, my first Computer was a Vic-20, I was amazed how good the graphics looked when I bought the 16K ram pack! 😆 I then graduated to a C64, The best game I had was Chase HQ on a plug in cartridge. Awesome stuff in its day!! My mate was always in his Spectrum 48K but his brother had a C16 like yours fr€$h&m1nt¥, I remember him having Kik- Start for it.

Never really got into consoles, although I did have a MegaDrive back in the day and played a bit on the kids PlayStation 2. My big thing back in the late 70's and early 80's was arcade games and used to love playing them. By the early to mid 1990's, consoles like the Nintendo and the Sega were taking over, people could play their favourite games at home without putting their money into an arcade machine and machines in pubs and arcades suddenly became dramatically less profitable, got pulled by operators and put into storage, never to see the light of day again. It was around that time I got into collecting and trading them. They could be picked up for next to nothing, especially the old dedicated machines that I grew up with and operators were happy just to get rid of them and free up some space. Back then I could buy Taito tabletop / cocktail machines for 50 quid..... they are at least 10 times that price now. Very early ,machines were dedicated, that being that they were designed and wired for one specific game.... once people grew bored of that game, it was a major hassle to change the artwork and more or less rewire the entire machine to run a different game board so once an operator had done this, the old game board hardly ever went back in and just got put on a shelf to gather dust. I used to buy these by the box full, they are very collectible now though.... I've still got the game boards for the following games in the roof somewhere.... they were my favourites so I hung onto them...

Do you know where I could get an old cabinet from ian65 ? I'd like to build my own arcade machine out of an old carcass using an emulator and a screen, any help or recommendations would be great. I spent last weekend asking around in Mablethorpe and Skeggy but all arcades have nowadays is slot machines.
