To be fair the OP's question is about inconsistent mileage recorded on the MOT rather than the actual mileage per se. It's one thing to buy a high mileage car knowing its history. It's something else to buy a car with a history that doesn't add up.
I'd buy a car with 200k on it with a genuine history. I wouldn't buy a 75k car I suspected of being clocked.
