The rails are for tying girls down with in the back, that's what the rednecks use them for. Anyway, we want to see some 11's photos otherwise we might think it's only a 1300cc 4 banger in it 😂 When you say girls do you mean 'sisters'...... just wondered.
11's nah we want a full on Top Gear style Gentleman's package in the nearest Tesco car park sorry, safe off road open area

The rails are also adjustable strapping points... They genuinely look very useful. Definitely need keeping. Oh, and you’re a flat battery numpty, just in case you thought you’d got away with it. Parking permits are a pain in the proverbial. The thing I'm waiting for, biting my fist, is the recommendation that I buy myself a thing called a power pack, because they're really useful and it means you don't have to take the battery out and charge it at home. That's really what I'm waiting for here. It's coming. Give it a few minutes

Well the Hillbilly Cadillac quote came from My Name Is Earl, so how about calling it Earl? I'm not one for naming cars though, an ex-girlfriend once said I should name my new to me Beetle project so I called it Jeff. First name that came to mind... Dook of Earl? Bet @quatermass still has the 7" single My daughter's first snuggly panda toy was called Jeff. It's apparently the obvious name for pandas. Her second one was called Jefferina. Becos she's a girl. Obvs. Children are a bit like @quatermass. They have their own internal logic system but it only occasionally overlays the real world in a meaningful manner

So, Mr Q, now you've filled your storage capacitor with magic electric smoke again, will you be driving your new boat pickup to the Gathering tomorrow? And if so, what route and what time will you be departing? Maybe we could meet up ... in a not-at-all matey* kinda way... so if nothing else I can laugh at you when you fail to proceed/you can laugh at me when I fail to proceed**
* no, no, I didn't mean that as another nautical jibe, honest
** delete as applicable

Its tempting of course, but yesterday was a b1tch of a day of long distance driving and that's kind of done me in for long distance adventures this weekend. Plus I really need to be sensible and spend the day making the Scim as appealing as possible for the new owner (fingers crossed). It's already apparent how much of a PITA it's going to be having three cars when the council will only allow 2 permits per household. Until I've stuck a permit on Dook (< I like that) I've got to go out and drive it around for an hour, twice a day. Sucks to be me

Looking at the photo of the battery charger, is the lead 1.5mm csa cable, it look a bit thin! You’ll be getting bolt drop due to the excessive resistance and it’ll take 47 minutes to charge up instead of 40!! I’m aware that I’m 5 hours too late, but just walked up a big, step hill and got phone reception! It’s lovely here, you’d really like it, you should definitely come if you get the opportunity!!

I'm just waiting for 6pm to roll around so I can sigh, turn to my missus and say
"Oh well, I'd better go and drive the car around for an hour just to avoid a parking fine. So annoying"
Wee heeeeeee!
====
In other news... I think I'm really going to miss the Scim.
It hasnt been fired up for almost two weeks. Just sitting there outside the house unloved.
But the last time I drove it it had developed a horrible knocking noise on the passenger side and I feared something structural had rusted apart and was now clanking around.
Not good.
But I had to go on holiday so I parked it up and left it there. Ut was even knocking at idle while stationary.
Then, naturally, somebody decided to buy it. Literally within the hour we arrived at our hotel.
Didnt mention the knocking so it's been playing on my mind ever since.
"THERES NO KNOCKING BY THE WAY" I kept emailing the buyer.
"NOTHING KNOCKS HERE! ITS QUITE SAFE". I texted him regularly.
So I've just been out to investigate
One of my "home made quickly" Retrorides Weekender slapdash exhaust brackets that I slapped together out of 1.2mm aluminium sheet had snapped due to metal fatigue.
So I just made another out of 4mm aluminium strip. Bolted it all back up, and then decided I should fire the car up and make sure it still actually runs.
It's so good that car. It just fires right up. Sounds mean and angry and ready for a fight. It spins tyres. It's a feisty wee curse word.
I actually don't want to let it go now.
