Ah modern thinking is you need to inflate using Nitrogen for a more even pressure at the differing temperatures found within the average kitten - obviously this is only suitable for track use. |

Chinese rubbish is rubbish thread  Rubbish is rubbish no matter where it is made. China is perfectly capable of manufacturing high quality goods. Almost all home electronics, from Samsung through to Apple are made in China. Most of the electronics inside your modern car, no matter which marque, are probably Chinese too. The problem is when Western companies move their products to China, they see just how much cheaper a like-for-like product can be made for, and then they get greedy. "Think of how much more money we could made if we just use a lower grade material here, a cheaper screw there", and then they devalue their product because the quality goes through the floor. I've seen it first-hand. |

Hammerite, takes a few coats now compared with a few years back, the spray, well the black at least was just a can of dirty water. My 1970 mk1 Chopper still has chrome and paint, could be a well used 5 year old bike, it's got dings and scratches but no rust just minimal pitting, I got one of the new releases in 2004, kept in a dry garage all the chrome turned brown in about 6 months

The good ol' days weren't as good as foggy history seems to tell us. The tools that have lasted the test of time are the good quality ones. The cheap ones didn't survive the journey. It's the same as music. We bemoan the lack of quality in today's music, harping back to the golden period of the 60s, forgetting that we only hear the good stuff from that period. The dross, and there was a lot of it, is conveniently forgotten :-)
Back to drill bits. I use cobalt drill bits and have no problems. Expensive but worth it. I can even centre drill titanium bolts with them. They need to be treated with care, however, as they are brittle.
