In the words of Leeroy Jenkins : Let's do this. I'll preface this with a little bit, then get into some photos, I'm hoping it won't be as madly epic as last year, as I was a little bit more focussed this time around, although I did take over a hundred more pictures this time........ This was my second visit to Le Mans Classic and I was looking forward to it, and a little dreading it. The dread was mainly around the Retro Rides Gathering at the Chateau being such an unknown quantity. It went off very well and turned out to be a pretty easy going day (despite some wobbly bits early on when plans changed). Once that was out of the way it became a lot easier to look forward to the Classic itself. I was flying solo this year which made things a little easier for moving around, I met up a few times with various people, Mr. Racer86, UtterPiffle and berendd being the main ones, but also had time to chat to bstardchild when he visited the chateau, plus the guys that were staying at the chateau with us made for some great evening chats around BBQs. For the event itself though I was free to choose where I went and what I wanted to do Like last year I set myself a little photography aim it worked well for me, so this year's aim was to collect the touches that make the Cafe Racer style as I first registered it in my brain at the last Classic. Obviously there was also the whole 'show the event' photos too. I'm also working on a Vlog, but the photos needed to be done first as they will form some of that. Here we go: The Journey overLast time I went I left late and didn't see much of interest on the way out, this time I was heading over at peak time on the Portsmouth to Caen ferry, it was like its own mini car show : Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Day one start of ClubsGot to love these bobtailed SMs Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Unlikely(?) rally car Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Unsurprisingly the Peugeot 205 has a strong following in France, and they look great to me Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Pristine Scirocco sat on its own Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr The 80's called they want their dream cars back Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Generations of prancing bulls Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Travelling to France doesn't help with my desire for a Matra Murena, particularly not when they are this cool Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Okay I don't know what the next two are, suspect they are Matra/Djet/Bonnet related Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr This made a HELL of a noise Le Mans Classic 2016 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Quick reminder of how much patience I needed to get some of these photos! More clubsIt was nice to see this modified S12 sitting in the Datsun stand, whilst I do enjoy a lot of classic cars it is always nice to see something modified for me. Even better when it is modified in France, I know the Retromod guys : retromods.forumactif.com/ had an event around the same time as Le Mans Classic on the other side of the country, hopefully they can pop up some pictures later. Brilliant. Always love seeing DBs even though I know so little about them. Just seem to ooze '50s backyard French small scale race car engineering. Saw a Giullia SS in the West End early one Saturday morning a few weeks ago. Just parked outside a cafe with the owners (I presume) sitting close by having coffee and reading the papers. The little Vespa looks pretty amazing. So much amazing variety. Look forward to seeing more.

Once more into the breach dear friends. AuctionArtcurial run an auction at the Classic, they display a bunch of stuff outside, but to get to actually bid and look around the stuff inside you need to buy a catalogue, I was far too busy to buy a catalogue to look around the cars, and far too poor to bid. nice to see more, I think its definitely an event to take a bicycle to! was my first visit to France other than a few miles between Calais and the Belgian border since I went to Paris 20 years ago to watch the world cyclocross championships! I realised I hadn't used my DSLR for a year so quite rusty and didn't have a short lens, and was running out of storage, derp!! I travelled down in a caged 306 track car, convoy with an 02 M3 a 2005 Mustang GT and a Fabia VRS fridge carrier (really, plus generator! ) here's the select few I thought worth posting, mix of Samsubg GS5 and canon dslr. flic.kr/s/aHskDeQM3F
