There's a gt on gumtree nearly 10k Well spotted, it's a car that has been repeatedly advertised over a period of months on various sites and is covered in earlier posts on here. Apparently it's a bit rougher than it looks in these grainy lo-res photos and people who've been to see it are of the opinion that it's overpriced for what it is; www.gumtree.com/p/austin/austin-1300-mk-2-gt-genuine-26000-miles-3-owners-/1312975292Yes very true. I’ve only seen it for sale on gumtree. Is there other sites it’s been advertised on that I’m not looking at myself ?

' I'm currently considering a Riley 1300 which is full gt running spec but the colour of period fawn brown isnt what id like! ' ' Rang and that Mg 1100 has sold Andy' ' Ive been and seen the mk1 mg 1100 last week.. ' You're doing a pretty good impression of a man who's keeping all his options open! OK your preference is for the GT, got that, but I wouldn't see the MG badged version as a lesser car - in fact in the 2-door form it should be more capable in most respects.

The Riley does press my buttons I must admit. Mg less so but yes they are nice. The Riley 1300 is such a rare car in gt spec which is what I liked. Re mg 1100 etc they was local and thought worth a look. But to be honest. If it was a mg. Riley or vp I no I’d be settling deep down. So need to really just concentrate on the car I’d like and enjoy and it be a keeper. Because I certainly wouldn’t be selling one once I got one again.

Love the folding sunroof. Shane there no interior photos as that’s where he says it needs work. The y piece on the exhaust is very close to the gear change hence no clamps fitted. Does look a nice car.

They both wasn’t expensive was they. Especially the Mg. Thought they’d off gone for a lot more especially the high end type off auction it was.

That MG was a comparative steal - are 1300GTs worth 2.5 times that? No way.

From what I’ve seen I think the market has calmed down a little. Classics prices do naturally settle down as show season dies. I recall in the early 1990's, (painfully as it cost me £20K+), the first thing to collapse when recession hit was classic car prices. I think a UK recession is almost inevitable and people are exercising much more caution with their classics investments lest they get stung.

Hi, yes I think you're right about the market being readjusted and pukka auctions being the place to get the best deals. This GT went for £8,400 in July which is probably around the right sort of money for it's condition.

This GT went for £8,400 in July which is probably around the right sort of money for it's condition. It was repeatedly advertised privately prior to being put into this auction, I believe just shy of £9K. It's decent but not concours or anywhere near.
