A couple I know have gone to the US (California) for a couple of years for work, and are looking for a car to last that time. Any thought as what to look for? Only need a runabout, and neither were regular drivers here (lived in London so no need). Reliable and cheap are the key elements here. Any thoughts? Are US spec european models that different to this side of the pond (with the same qualities/faults to look for) any idea what is common out there? Or is there some US made gem that we've never heard of? Probably looking at 10+ years old to keep costs down......
