I can't be the only one who thinks that looks really good? You'd expect a Porsche to be ruined (most might say that!) but that looks really well done and all the proportions and lines work on it I think.

Here you go Phil Thanks. The part in the write up where it says the hardest part was making the joint between the two shells is class, it took me ages to spot the smooth transition between the two!

Just out of interest If you were to do one of these now using a vehicle like a land rover or transit chassis cab would it require a BIVA? Assuming you are adding on not removing any chassis members?

I'm not 100% on this, but chassis as the still 'modified' away from it's factory specification, you'll still require an IVA. You are allowed to add a crossmember and box frame rails, but anything over and above that 'destroys' the original specification of the chassis hence IVA.

What if you started with something that came from the factory with only two wheels like: as in buy a rear-ended camper, remove the Alko bolt-on chassis members and replace with something with more axles? Ducato cab/cowls are apparently available from the factory without doors and windscreens too which would give a bit more scope for dropping a classic shell over.

I spotted this thread and immediately though 6 wheeled Volvo estate. In fact I have a thing about six wheelers as all my lego cars technic cars were converted. It would look shocking but if you could just bolt another bit of Volvo to the back of another one you wouldn't technically be altering anything. You would however have an extra set of wheels/axle to explain. I think the extra axle is the biggest problem isn't it ?

There is a 6 wheeled pick-up over near to me called a stonefield I think, ? Looks like a lot of fun could be had in the snow. Also seen a BIG mercedes expedition beast looked amazing too.oh and that crazy looking pumped up a.m.g beast too. Not very retro but very nice.

I think the tricky part is that cab won't be Type Approved as a stand-alone unit, it will have been certified together with different bolt on rear chassis' that available to be used with it. Removing the bolt on part effectively removes the Type Approval, and you're back at IVA again.

This belongs to a local welder, and while its not technically a 6 wheeler, it sure does convey the look of one
