The grey phase 1 on ebay is one i had a little while back... hes correct when he says its solid as i put new inner outer sills and dealt with the jacking points both sides during my ownership!
Would have loved to keep but i was in a bad position with a few issues the car had and the usual lack of money time and space. Amazing when it was going though, really light and airy to sit in aswell due to skinny pillars and low window line.
Id have it back but probably cant afford it!
Edit to add... looks like the issues the car had have been sorted i don't want to put anyone off who might be considering it

It's only a month older than I am which is pretty cool and I prefer the back end on the ph1's too. He seems to be having trouble selling it on at the mo it's been on eBay a few times.

Yeah seems odd that.. either it hasnt been fixed up and hes trying to flip it or the price vs lack of mot. If its been fixed that car should walk an mot.
Also to add that car took me to berlin and back less than 24hours after its last mot pass and having been off the road for a year, unlike the senator 24v i took the next year that had to be retrieved by beavertail!
Edit to add don't forget you get a much cooler dashboad in a ph1 aswell!

I think if I was selling that car and couldn't shift it I'd of put it in for an mot by now, even if it fails atleast it would give the buyer a better idea of what needs doing, unless as you said he's just trying to flip it. Yh phase one dashs are cooler my dad had an 1987 and 1993 savanna so I sort of remember but dashs from when I was a kid.

You would be surprised what people bid on without an MOT being done and being hopeful. I have been stung here myself years ago as has a friend recently despite advising him to get the logbook no. to see its MOT history. Long and behold its failure sheet went missing within a month. It was not a pretty sheet either! Back on topic it seems a few testers preferred these to the Sierras looking back but I guess Ford's marketing back then went a very long way.

First time I have logged on in ages and this pops up.
Where to start, I have owned 2x ph2 21 turbo quadras and a ph1 fwd, I have loved owning them and working on them.
There are about 31 quadras left with about 15 on the road. I think there are about 170 2wd left. A lot of people buy them to remember there youth, forgetting they are a 20 odd year old French car.
The cars on eBay are mostly lemons in a nice way. Lol. Unless your prepared to put in the time and effort then don't bother, buy one from an enthusiast. A lot of the spares are no longer available but there is a deadicated following who will help if they can. There is also a lot of info on the web and also a few very knowledgeable people who will help.
The most common things to look for are all the usual things when buying are car. If you buy on condition and what you feel comfortable fixing then you shouldn't go far wrong. Remember it's French so electrics are a major pain in the rear, check as much as possible works. Check for bodged work as some home mechanics cut corners, or simply don't know whet their doing with a turbo French rust bucket.
If you have any specific questions just drop me a message and if I don't know then I know who to ask.
Also look at the turborenault forum there's a wealth of info on there.

One of the favourite cars I've ever owned was a J plate red 21 Savannah estate back in about 1995. It was just a 2 litre, but it was my third or fourth car, and felt so special and quick compared to what I had had before. The boot was massive, and the seats were so comfortable!! Would have loved a 21t, but I think that ship has long since sailed.

My lovely Mrs has bought me a Renault 21 turbo phase one brochure it's mint and came straight from a dealer! This has only fueled my want for a 21t further!
