Hi, For the last couple of months, my laptop has been hanging for minutes at a time when using RR forum. spec : Laptop running Windows7 (2009), browser Maxton. T'internet access is with 3G "pebble" - no fancy broadband or dialup here No recent hardware of software changes (automatic updates are disabled) The same setup has been working fine since I got it about 5 years ago until the problems started about 3 months ago. The problem is limited to this forum (the other sites I use - forums, newsgroups, etc - all work without hanging) Has anyone else noticed problems, or is it just me Thanks

I've not had this personally. I've not changed anything really on the forum for a while, in fact I've removed things that could be slowing it down if anything. I do have a similar problem with adverts on Skype on my own laptop, where occasionally and advert will load and cause my laptop to hang, it is rather annoying. I suspect it is an advert being trafficed into the site, which I don't actually have any control over, although I'm tempted to take over control of ads so I can control a bit better the stuff that gets loaded along side the forum.

Makes sense ~ thanks. Odd that it only affects this site for me, most of the forums I look at also have adverts on them. I guess I notice it more as my 3g is painfully slow at the best of times Cheers

I get something similar, using chrome on windows XP and also a painfully slow 3 dongle connection. I have to have this forum tab on top for it to load slowly, most other sites will load when the tabs are hidden.

This site has been loading slowly for me for the last couple of days .. because of the rubiconproject.com running slowly which I guess is the ad network that Proboards use... YAY for Ads slowing sites down :/

Nightmare today!, I'm on my MacBook Pro and RR is the only site doing it, takes at least two minutes after choosing a thread to look at driving me nuts.

I'm having the problem where I select an RR page and it'll take at least two minutes for it to display... sometimes it doesn't come up until I navigate away from it... then suddenly it pops up just as the computer moves to the next page. Then I have to use the "back" arrow on the browser to access the RR page I wanted in the first place
It's definitely only RR that's doing it and I've changed nothing on the computer. Extremely annoying

Hmmmm, weird. Having found it all worked fine on *spits* Internet Explorer, I forgot all about it and logged back in with my usual Firefox. And it magically all works normally now.
Is cos Back to the Future day? Must be it; disturbances int he space/time continuum.

Yeah I get the rubiconproject some times... What should happen is all the ad stuff should load AFTER everything else... I don't think I'm doing anything odd with script order, so it is likely out of my hands and with Proboards... I'll see what they have to say.

Update time : The freezing is still causing problems (see earlier post for la[top spec) but using a different browser (Firefox) on the same laptop all seems fine, so it looks like my problem only affects my normal browser (Maxthon) Keep smiling folks!
