What a difference a week or so makes weather wise, what a glorious afternoon it is! Safe to say we'll be getting back into the swing of things starting tonight and especially as the nights get lighter. Cars should start appearing between 6 and 7pm tonight. Don't forget that we have our lazy Sunday afternoon meet this week as well, details to follow.
Scotch Piper Lazy Sunday Afternoon meets happen every first and third Sunday of every month.
It now looks like we've finally waved goodbye to the cold weather and salty roads so if you live in the Merseyside/Wirral/West Lancs area, why not get the car out this Sunday and take a drive down? We are a very friendly bunch of petrolheads and there is always a wide, diverse array of cars on display from Leyland to Lamborghini.
So, this Sunday at the oldest pub in Lancashire, the Scotch Piper Inn in Lydiate, from 12:30pm. Postcode is L31 4HD. Please feel free to reply or PM me if you have any questions.
Well, after the usual Bank Holiday wash out yesterday it looks like the weather may behave after 3pm today. If Mother Nature decides to play ball why not round off the weekend tonight at the Scotch Piper from 6pm. Also with the clocks going back we now have the lighter evenings to look over the beautiful machinery on show. Postcode is L31 4HD.
Hi, Just a quick word on two events taking place in the near future.
Sunday 24th April is National Drive It Day. What we are proposing is a meet up at The Scotch followed by a short cruise to Southport, a drive up and down Lord Street, along the Promenade and then route back through Parbold, Ormskirk, Maghull and Lydiate before arriving back at The Scotch. We will meet up at 12pm for a 12:30 approx departure.
If you know of anyone who has a Classic Car but is not online, please invite them as they are more than welcome. Let's try and get as many of us taking part as possible, make this a sight to behold! ?
With regards to the Vulcan Wings and Wheels event on Sunday, 19th June at Wellesbourne Airfield near Stratford upon Avon, I've been made aware that places are filling up quickly for this event. If you are interested in this you need to register your car. It only costs a fiver and all the proceeds go towards maintaining the Vulcan. The link for the booking form can be found on the event page, link below. Once again, anyone without access to the Internet is more than welcome but every car wanting to go has to register. Please be aware that this takes place on Fathers Day.
Don't forget kids, tomorrow is Scotch Sunday! Weather permitting, we'll be meeting up from 12:30pm. Hopefully we'll get a similar turn out to our March Sunday meet ups. Please share this among the Classic Car community and with anyone without access to the Internet. Postcode is L31 4HD.

Well, our meet up last Sunday was superb! Lots of fantastic cars and people including some welcome newbies! This Sunday is our Drive It Day Cruise. Meeting up at The Scotch Piper from 12pm, we are heading to Southport and returning to The Scotch via Parbold, Ormskirk and Maghull. If you'd like to take part the post code is L31 4HD. We are meeting at 12pm for a departure at approx 12:30-1pm.
The last few weeks have been nothing short of epic at the Scotch! We had our Drive It Day Cruise to Southport and Parbold which was a great success. After the feedback we got we will certainly try planning a few more of these over the Summer. We also have a Facebook group for anybody who uses it which provides regular updates and a place to view/post photos. Just look up 'Scotch Piper Classics' in Facebook Groups.
Monday saw our busiest night of this year with a fantastic turnout and, once again, even more fantastic 'new' old cars turning up. If this was a precedent for what this Summer holds we are going to be very busy!
We also have a new addition, Snaffles Cafe, less than a mile from The Scotch towards Southport providing us with hot food and drinks. They stay open especially for us on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings.
This Sunday is our monthly afternoon meet, the third Sunday of the month. We normally meet up around 12pm at The Scotch Piper until mid afternoon. If you're at a loose end why not get yourself and your classic down to The Scotch? You'll receive a very warm welcome. If you can't make Sunday, we still meet up every Monday evening from 6pm and every 3rd Sunday of the month. Postcode is L31 4HD. Hopefully see you Sunday! ?
It's been another amazing year at The Scotch Piper, lots of new faces and fantastic cars and some great events including numerous cruises, appearances at shows across the North West and even a Treasure Hunt! Our numbers have grown considerably, the result being that we are now regularly filling the front Car Park and most of the back field!
Sunday 16th will see us meeting up for our monthly Sunday afternoon meet. With the time of year that it is, people are putting their pride and joy to bed for the Winter or coming off the road to do some repair work. If you haven't done this yet and are free on Sunday, it would be great if you could jump into your pride and joy and bring it down before Winter well and truly arrives. Let's try and make it the best Sunday attendance this year! We normally meet from 12:30pm until late afternoon, postcode is L31 4HD.
It's been a while since the Scotch went out of action due to the awful fire, thanks to all at the Scarisbrick Arms for accommodating us so happily over the winter. With just four weeks to go 'till the hour shifts and it stays light until eight in the evening the good news is that the sparks are finishing up the wiring and the paintwork's done now. There isn't yet an official date for re-opening but I think it'll be quite soon. Get Ready!
Monday's half done so you can look forward to meeting up with the Scotch Piper Classics this evening at the Scarisbrick Arms at 7:00pm, just a mile towards Southport from the Scotch on the same road.
Also our Lazy Sunday Afternoon meet ups have been on hold since the fire at the Scotch and with the weather improving we think it's about time we held the first one of the year to get things moving again.
So this Sunday the 19th we'll be at the Scarisbrick from around 12:30pm, rain or shine, then every third Sunday of the month from then on we'll be back at the Scotch as usual.
Summer's coming, join us tonight and Sunday afternoon, we've got plenty of events planned for this forthcoming year so come and join in with the fun.
Scarisbrick Arms in Downholland from 7:00pm. There's a huge car park and the staff have been fantastic over the winter for us. And the same location from 12:30pm on Sunday.
It wasn't a bad start to our Sunday meets, given the poor weather. It was also our last at The Scarisbrick Arms. They have been excellent hosts over Winter while the Scotch has been getting repaired, our sincere thanks to all at The Scarisbrick.
The Scotch reopened over the weekend. It means our weekly Monday night meets return there beginning this evening from 6:30pm. This Sunday also sees our monthly Sunday afternoon meet on Easter Sunday, 16th April. So, if you have no other plans that day and the weather is acceptable, please feel welcome to come join us, it should be a brilliant day! 12:30pm onwards, postcode L31 4HD.
