The fogs and lights in general are a bit of a blue peter special. The fogs are yellow bulbs with the reflector painted with a yellow vase paint from hobby craft and the shround inside painted satin black Not a lot achieved on the merc front. How ever in the spirit of retroness I went to veiw and pick up this viva with a mate. This will be a very cool project indeed. And now I have my peelers open for one And also had to employ a new mechanic and chief so people meet Stanley. The 60lb prime example of a savage animal Hopefully I will get it back today in time for Stanford hall vw show

Well its now out of the body shop and not with out a issue. Been down to collect it and to find it hidden behind a barrage of cars. Went in and said finished the ball joints and motor. " there's been a problem and my gaffer will not realese the car. he say we haven't charged you enough for it.." I said well I have paid the full amount quoted 2 days a go in cash to you and no issue was raised then and your gaffer was there so how much is he saying I'm short. " he wanted another £500. curse word to that get your gaffer here. Gets him on the blower after a bull and a cow and his gaffers ranting at me on the phone and I'm telling him I ain't paying £500 then it went to £300. By then my curse word is boiling bearing in mind the original job was quoted for 4 days work it's been 4 weeks. They have resprayd it not a different shade but a different colour to what it was ment to be. They were going to fit the ball joints for free because of the delay. That didn't happen. I agree to pay the vat on £700 minus the broken badge that I picked up and gave them the recept for so I called it a £100. After listening to the rant of the amount work done ect. I pay the money and go. Not checking the car as I'm curse word off. Realise check it over and they hadn't even finished painting it. They had flatted a run in the wing and had gone through the paint and never got round to blowing it back in there's scratches on the paint that's just been painted over so. Off I pop show the guy who's said balls I forgot about that. I told them I ain't best pleased about hearing the rant about what's been done on the car and how I owe him on a car that's ain't even finished after 4 weeks. So I took my £100 back off them and took the car. Told him to get his gaffer to call me on Tuesday and to arrange a day with me to get the car finished and in writing and I would give him back the £100 on satisfactory completion. I'm not expecting perfection but finished would a standard before you climb on the soap box So that's where we are at.

Been a bit of a ball ache getting the parts fitted. Worst being the head shearing off the caliper carrier bolt. Meaning I had to split the rear caliper so I could remove it to extract the remains of the bolt. Essentially ruining the caliper. Managed to get a replacement caliper thanks to my Mrs goin on a mission of mercy to collect it for me. fitted and the caliper won't bleed. Try as I may it wasn't having none of it. Treated me to a gunson eeasibleed pressure bleeder and that has managed to bleed the rear and now have brake pressure. Going to be changing the front brakes over the weekend. I hope anyway. Goes back to the shop to finish the wing they had flatted on Monday. Fingers crossed we have no more issues with them when I collect it. Looking forward to actually driving it and enjoying it.

Great car! I love the interior especially. I'm restoring one of these at the moment. As a body shop co-owner I'm in shock how some of so called professionals are running their shops. Asking for more money after the price was agreed shouldn't happen, especially when job hasn't been done properly.
The only thing I would change is the colour of the vinyl wrap. White walls on the tyres plus white roof on a light coloured car is a little bit too much of white. Maybe gold/brown instead? I reckon it ticks some pimp options on your list as it is anyway. I hope you will sort out all the problems with paint job and people from the shop treat you fair.

Yeah it was a local body shop in rugby. I'm not from rugby and have only been here for 4 years so don't know the reps of the places round here yet. Had these wheels knocking around the back yard for a while. No longer looking polished as time has done away with that. Friend has shopped them quickly, I reckon with the right fitment the rear ride height less collapsed look. And with the centres colour coded and the lips white they could look pretty good. Even left polished. Tempted to get some adapters knocked up to suit it what you guys reckon

Think I prefer the 'African Despot' look of the caps and white walls. The bling looks too....forced.... But hey, what do I know! I had an Orange and black car..... P.

I prefer what you have already. If you want to go really pimp then fit some chrome wire wheels!

I also vote for sticking with the old wheels...
EDIT: in fact when I had mine I hunted high and low for that style of steelie. In chrome, or white, or metalflake, they would suit the custom look you're after just right
Also, I think the coupé front bumpers are wrap around chrome rather than the black rubber ends like yours, could be worth looking into?

I quite like the idea of banding these and running the hub cap. Go from a 5.5 to a 7.5 wide rim and run a 205:65::14 with the white walls

Up for sale or swaps for a vw beetle. But 100% in no rush to sell as I'm enjoying it too much. But obviously for the right car and price I would let it go. £4k as a guide price
