not much of an update due to been away with work again, got back and managed to mount the fuel pump and filter and connect up the fuel lines. should also have my new exhaust this evening, new gt turbo brake disks and pads ordered as well as a relay and holder to wire in the fuel pump. the gathering is still a while off but without a free weekend from now till then itll still be tight.

managed to pick up a sidewinder side exit today as well, got it all on and fitted up. on the gt turbo its designed for it poked out a little, my car been a campus and not having sideskirts means it pokes out a mile. Will need some angle grinder action If I'm lucky (usually not) i might be able to get the fuel pump wired in and the front shocks built back up. I kinda need an impact gun to do it thoughas i havent got the kit to take them apart in my garage.

So today has been a good day, poped over to a friends to borrow a torque gun, fitted the lowering springs to my shocks (won't last long but will see me through until coilovers) got back to my house and the cracked on with fitting them. Had some help from the daughter with passing nuts bolts and tools so that was good bonding time too. Was going to start on the front brake conversion but found the gt turbo callipers to be knackered. Decided to keep the stock ones on for now and revisit at a later date. So front wheels back on and dropped to the floor. Looks cool but way to much rake going on. Will need to hit the back end with the lowering stick next

The calipers i found are the same internally, they just have a slightly longer reach for the vented discs. I think you can get the triangle tool to take them off, you can swap them over then.

The caliper is the same just with a longer pad arm. so they are essentially a bit wider, but the wider part is able to come off. So instead of swapping calipers over and having to bleed etc, you can just change the front. But you need the tool for it. Annoyingly I cant find an example.

Looking at mine it looks to be solid one piece calliper and carrier that bolt to the hub. the gtt items are a separate calliper and carrier. Might be different on other models though.

Ah, looking back through it seems you do have different brakes. Ive not seen those before. Well good luck with the gtt brake swap then

Thanks buddy, not much left really bar finishing touches. Was ment to be a cheap fun summer basher. Starting to add up now though especially as I'm looking at wheel choices...

Thats looking good now. Somewhere I have pictures of mine when I fitted the van beam. I just swapped the drums and bolted it on, looked like it had a jack-up kit on the back ! Mine went round corners very well with the van beam and mix and match front end and it was running 5.5 X 13" steels and 175 tyres. Those ones on it banded would be excellent, just to get some better tyres. Traffic lights are going to be fun once it's rolling, can you set up an in car grin camera for when you get it going !

cheers buddy appreciate it.
so far the gearbox leak has been sorted, WIN
though in 4th and 5th the clutch has started to slip.
thing is i purchased a fully working and running well engine and box with turbo straight from another car. slapping it and finally running it to find small leaks all round, a goosed turbo, a massive leak from the gearbox and now a slipping clutch in under 15 miles of use is starting to grate on me.
funds that were aside for wheels have had to pay for a new turbo, and now the further expense of a clutch and time to fit it is draining. was building it as a cheap summer blaster for fun and now its starting to rack up the bills with little use... urgh

Sorry to hear you are having problems with the engine and box. I bought an Astra as a cheap daily runabout with an engine problem. I was going to get a whole engine but didn't fancy risking it. New pistons a rebore and a few other bits has come to about £600 so you can't always win whatever way you do it.
The new screen looks better though, only ever seen one with cloudy bits at the corners.

ok so ive not got many pictures due to it being a messy job. i decided to check the oil pressure before going any further. It read a little low so i investigated further and found a worn oil pump. I decided to get a refurbed item to fit back in as they are no longer available and am waiting on some gauges to turn up so i can check it more accurately, last thing i want is to write off a bigger turbo and or the engine
