Registered keeper of a stolen car?

Its all sorted but very strange, they had him return the car and seems to have gotten away with it somehow! I'm in the clear though and have arranged my "friend" to repay me some compensation so all in all it worked out okay for me, feel sorry for the elderly woman though!
