I drove these when new, worst thing about them was the massive torque steer, never experienced anything like it since, you could not put your foot down in a narrow road unless you were fully ready to steer in and out of it as you accelerated and came off the throttle.
But I love them, like a lot of Austin Rover cars you could get a really good one or a shocker.

Serious thump on them- and you could drive off from a cold start in 4th gear without protest.Uphill. Brother had one and we came across a hard driven 827 Vitesse- and even with his bhp advantage -we blasted him into the weeds.(not your one 820!)  |
