Think of the monico grand prix but held on the British roads and possibly in London! www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-28261960So we might also get stuff like the Isle of Mann TT race over here as well as F1 cars down the mall and up the A1(M)?

Berg Cup UK round anyone? This. A UK hillclimb series based on European-style longer closed-road events would be immense... I'm sure we all know somewhere local that would be perfick. *n

This is probably a silly question, but if it's currently illegal, how come we have the Brighton Speed Trials?

Great news but personally I think this has been largely politically motivated by those with vested interests in having F1 or Formula E run around Central London.

Bexhill staged for may years a sprint along the seafront, in fact Bexhill holds the title of "Birthplace of British Motor Racing" as the event started in 1902, accepted by the RAC as the place where car racing first happened, Even the Town border signs Boast the fact, This could make for a good event venue, reinstating the Bexhill 100, an anniversary event that was stopped by the council a few years ago, I'm getting all excited thinking about it,

Luton would make an excellent place for a rally event.
"And the spectators are loving this. Each car is getting air as it flies over those speed humps."
"These drivers are the epitome of car control on the loose gravel these pot holes are generating."
"Oh, they're getting so close to the edge here! Yes, I think, he's just tapped the side of that Biffa left in the road."
"How brilliant of the residents to help out the organisers with the obstacle planning by parking their cars like they have. The whole street is one long series of chicanes."

From the experience of having the Tour De France go past my work/home last weekend. There needs to be serious thought and planning into how this affects the people who live on the "track".
All we got from the council was "the road will be closed from 6am, tough".

Not the UK I know but here's a road I first used a few years ago that could make a superb hillclimb course. It's a place called Tagaytay a few miles south of where I live and it's spectacular. At just over 12km, it climbs around 1,800ft in that distance up the side of a volcano, from the lake to the rim. There's virtually no motor racing here with the two circuits that do exist (used to be three) very poorly promoted, but it would be brilliant to see if the Tagaytay Hillclimb could be got off the ground.
