So as a bit of an experiment we did a little Gathering at Châteaux Rive Sarthe in conjunction with En tente Cordiale, who organise a whole load of camping and accommodation at Le Mans and Le Mans Classic. I stuck it up on here a few weeks back and it made its way to Pistonheads and a couple of other places. We just wanted to see what the Châteaux' grounds worked like with some cars in, where people wanted to park up and if people enjoyed just coming and hanging out on the Friday of Le Mans Classic.
Overall we think it worked, in fact we were pleased enough to say we'll be doing it next Le Mans Classic. The venue worked well enough that we'll be doing a chilled social Retro Rides Gathering at the Châteaux next year on the first weekend on July (put it in your diaries, full details to follow) which we're pretty excited about.
Cars turned up through the morning, some hung around until late afternoon, others popped in, grabbed a drink and/or a bite to eat and then headed off. bstardchild came mob handed in his lovely Lotus Carlton and Rich606 came and hung out for most of the day with us, which was great fun.
A little something British in a big something French

Who is this!? Saw the car, was making my way over and then suddenly they were on their way out

Saw this van later on the Aston Martin owners club stand at Le Mans

An awesome something old

bstardchild's unusually reliable (finally) Lotus Carlton (which attracted attention from the Ferrari owners present!)

Night falling

A little bit of scenery to finish with

Overall a rather pleasant way to spend a day in the French sunshine with some great people and a chilled atmosphere (away from the madness of Le Mans which I'll document tomorrow).
Hopefully people will want to join us next year for what could be a great weekend away.
