Wotcha folks,
I'm Martin, I hail from Brum, been into cars all my life, love making things. I trained as paint sprayer as an apprentice with the Midland Red Central Works in Edgbaston, when it was still about. Along with painting, I learnt signwriting and thought this would be the career path I'd prefer in life, so went self-employed at 23, now at 52 I have my own sign business in Aston, fabricating signs in aluminium, stainless & m/s, mostly self taught in fabrication. Still do a lot of truck graphics, but nothing with paint brushes any more, vinyl graphics just took over.
First car was a Mini 1000, rebuild that with 1275 Cooper S engine & brakes as you do, slightly customised that until it got stolen, followed that with Yellow MK2 RS2000, that got pinched too, so bought a van lol.
Very much like the classics, Jaguars, Lotus, MG's, currently playing with an MGB GT to be a daily driver. Obsessed at the moment with panel making old school using my Edwards wheeling machine, been on a couple of metal shaping courses and have learned a lot from the metalshaping sites on tinternet.
This seems like a great site & hope contribute with some of the stuff I make. Cheers

Afternoon guys and gals.
I'm Adam from the rough area of Norwich. Retro cars, well I've got a Vauxhall Nova 1.2 sting, bit of a project to get it to how I want it to be. This is the 4th Nova I've had, the least powerful and the most expensive! Had a 1.3 SR, 1.4SR and a GSI. Will get some pictures up in my history post!
Currently my daily is a Mk5 Astra SRi 1.9cdti, one of those ones with the chocolate gearboxes! Other have is smoking around in a Golf GTD mk6.
Should be making some of the local Norwich meets along with attending the Gathering in August with PNG.

Hi. My name is Martin, and I've just managed to get a 24v senator. Paid waaaaay ,more than I sold one for 12 years ago! It seems tidy enough, but let's see what the mot tester says on Tuesday. Hopefully not too expensive, and I will be on here with some pics.

Name : Rich
Location : Northants
Retro/Interesting Cars Owned : At present, a 2005 Ford Fusion, slowly having Fezza ST150 suspension and Gubbins swapped onto it to create a kind of sporty Fiesta estate (why didn't Ford simpky name them Fiesta Eastate?) with enough room for a 6'5" driver behind the wheel, and the Wife's wheelchair in the boot. Practical, virtually unheard of in modified form, and generates a lot of interest.
Shows Regularly Attended: Anything at Silverstone as I live close by, La Vie En Bleu, Pugfest (got friends in the Peugeot scene)
What are you hoping to do here: Marvel at the workmanship, ingenuity and passion of the folk out there as they show us what they're up to, and maybe help out a bit, and hopefully become a part of the community.
Other cars, non retro: 66 plate Kia Sportage, courtesy of Motability. 1991 Yamaha FZR600 in Special edition John Kosinski livery, believed to be one of only two left in the country.
Anything else we should know: Medically retired police officer, manager for a lowland search and rescue team. Keen cyclist, radio amateur, and Labrador owner.

Hello All, i've been looking around this forum, and amazed by some of the projects people are up to, so i thought i'd get a bit more active and show some pictures of my own projects and/or tat, as the wife sees it! Really a landrover man at heart and all my motors ( bar one which is a little too new ) are landies, prefer the old ones, currently have a 54 series 1, a series 2a in the garage having a new chassis fitted (slowly) and a discovery. also have a bit of a rare one which is the next project, a 1970 foward control. struggled slightly to see the landies as retros, i guess because the deisgn has changed so little over the years, i have a newer one with a/c and heated seats and it feels a bit 'wrong', only ac should be the bulkhead flaps Cheers, Mike

Been lurking around this site for years, mainly looking at the For Sale section dreaming! Thought it was time to start checking out the rest of the site a bit more. After years of driving brand new company cars I find myself back in a older cars and preferring it. My car life is now spent mostly driving my Mercedes E280 S124, hording mk2 Golf and selling My Alfa Spider.

Hi, I'm Stuart, I'm the club facist for Performance Nova Group. Kinda funnily enough, I've not owned a nova for atleast 8 years now, but I do have two halves that form a BBQ so thats a nice little win there, and it'll be at RRG in a few weeks. I don't posess anything remotely retro anymore, aside from the pseudo wannabe retro Abarth 500 which is fun enough. Regular atenndee of PVS, Combe Spring and Autumn action days, the VBOA meet that used to be at Billing but now at Market Harbourough, and soon to be RRG... PNG have been to RRG for many many years but this year will be my first done.

Name : David. Location : Halifax W.Yorks Retro/Interesting Cars Owned : MK2 C reg (C30 NFY) fiesta xr2. Gorgeous e39 525, Lots of old novas, calibras, cav gsi, 306 gti, and a plethora of modern Audi's, vdubs, ignis sport, mg zs, forester xt etc etc. Long list. Currently rocking a 340bhp 03 2003 subaru forester xt which looks like curse word and goes like flash gordon lol. Shows Regularly Attended : Non regular. Bits and bats. Instagram, d_nok_life What are you hoping to do here: Glean information from you more experienced nutters in the art of blending old school cool with modern day warp speed Anything else we should know?: I love the older stuff but have gotten lost in the subaru scene for a while now. I have been about to light the fuse on an insane 500+bhp build into my forester xt (already 340 and well modded) but I cannot escape the intense burning desire to have the mother of all ford capri's. Not sure if you would know but to get to 500+bhp with an ej20 engine that is reliable would cost me upwards of 10 grand more like 15 grand and thats pretty much all parts and no labour (labour not a problem). Once i factor in even better suspension, further brake mods etc etc I'm over the 20 grand mark. Ive done my homework and know the cost of a lucky find capri shell or ready done restored bare capri shell and figure that leaves me a massive chunk of change for the rest. I'll start a question thread but basically the goal is a ford capri with a 1jz gte engine putting out around 500bhp. I think i could die a happy man in that lol. See you around

Hi, newly here.
Name: David Location: Hampshire Car: 1985 Opel Monza GSE Silver Auto, my pride and joy.
I used to own a 1985 GSE in Anthracite but gave it to Forum Member Bastardchild many years ago, I saw he'd posted on here about it and that's how I'm here.
I hate working on cars and know little about what to do and how but feel that that will have to change very rapidly so will no doubt be picking the brains of fellow Retro Riders, bear with me guys.....

Hello David... I'm a big fan of the Monza and have lusted after one numerous times in the past when deciding what to buy. Somehow a suitable one never came up when I was looking, but whenever I've got something else to throw all my money at, I see a lush Monza I could otherwise buy.
As for working on cars... I've been tinkering and faffing for about five years now. I started off knowing literally nothing at all. I had no concept whatsoever of how an engine even propelled a vehicle when I first got into retro cars. I couldn't have identified a single component under the bonnet, neither by name or by guessing at what it's purpose might be.
In just five short years I've owned a succession of old vehicles, each with their own oddities and quirks, and each with a variety of problems that needed fixing, and I still have no idea what anything does. I just take things off and if the car stops working, I put it back on again. Sometimes with parcel tape. If it still doesn't work, I park it far away and pretend it isn't mine.
Welcome to Retrorides!
