Basically a Mitsubishi Diamante in different clothes judging by under the bonnet. Nope. First 2 models are Mitsubishi based, the third gen only uses a few dribs and drabs of Mitsubishi parts. Mostly Hyundai engineered. The 'Sigma' V6 is still the Mitsubishi 6G7x series. You basically have a Mitsubishi 6G72 DOHC with Hyundai writing on it. The front strut towers and multi link suspension looks identical to the F36A Diamante (which interestingly was also a hard top sedan without window frames).

Someone should tell Wikipedia they are wrong To be fair I couldn't give a rats ass where the bits came from, the sum total of it's parts makes and awesome car

I'll take some at some point. It's a good car if nothing but a little under-wheeled as stock but that's easily remedied

I'm always looking on eBay for cars I've not got the time/space/money for and I've looked at these a lot. Bit of baby bentley about them. If that number plate recess n lights were in the bootlid it would be spitting image of an Arnage from the back. What about some mesh...Check out this item I found on eBay: pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=261490001606..some bentley badges and maybe some carling 'black label' stickers or some 'red label' tea bag stickers? I like it and +1 for more pics

I'm not going to hate on it for being a modern (I sold my R32 GT-R and got a Dualis/Qashqai ), but I personally wouldn't touch any Hyundai's or Kia's from before 2006ish. Perhaps the UK got better built ones, but I remember friends getting half their cars replaced under warranty because everything failed. Still, if it's in good condition, and you can personalise it, any canvas is your canvas.

I can't help thinking that the colour of the car isn't helping it any. For sure it's a classy colour but I reckon it might be the kind of colour that limits how much a modification will change its overall look and feel. I'm not normally a matt/satin paint fan but I think it'd work well on this with its curves. I saw a Skoda Octavia last week in Bradford that was done in a satin deep red/burgundy and it looked AMAZING and I think this car would look much better like that too. Just my 2p's worth!

Thing is, this isn't your average run of the mill Hyundai. This is even properly undersealed and cavity waxed. I don't think they did that on any other models in 2000. It's not given me a day of grief except a keyfob battery and the AFM was fitted the wrong way round when I bought it. Ha, I'm not painting it satin anything. It's practically mint, why would I ruin it? If it was a sh1tter maybe but I've done satin cars, and still own one. I like this shiny. don't take that the wrong way, I'm not having a pop, just, no

I've always kinda liked the look of these, they truly are well-proportioned and have an understated design that's classier than many cars in recent years. That said, it does needs gold wire wheels, and bags. That would be perfect

Actually, these things are quite common over here in Australia. A look at one of our main car sites has 36 of them for sale. I would say to keep that in mind when looking for parts, but everything over here is ridiculously expensive, even 2nd hand parts from a wreckers/breakers. Still, if you are having real troubles finding some parts, it may prove helpful.

Bit of baby bentley about them. What about some mesh... Think I agree there; mesh grille would suit it well, even if Bentley badges would be trying too hard. Though the XG30 ones would loosen with hot water... Will admit the wheels don't move me though & Bentley talk has me thinking of something more Monobloc & solidly chromey rather than spoked. Driving my brothers 3.5 Mitsubishi Magna/Diamante Wagon last week they can have a nice exhaust woofle.

I would say to keep that in mind when looking for parts, but everything over here is ridiculously expensive, even 2nd hand parts from a wreckers/breakers. Still, if you are having real troubles finding some parts, it may prove helpful. I had noticed that they seem very popular in Australia. They are definitely a massive cut above the quality of any other Hyundai we got here in 2000 anyway. Parts wise I just phone Hyundai, they have proved helpful so far but there will be a point something will be NLA, it's 14 years old now. So will bear that in mind Bit of baby bentley about them. Driving my brothers 3.5 Mitsubishi Magna/Diamante Wagon last week they can have a nice exhaust woofle. Mesh grille is a no-no. Part of the appeal is that grille. It's not like it's making the car easy to identify to begin with, and I really am not keen on woven stainless grilles. Also, the xg30 badge had been superglued on which has eaten into the paint so it has to stay until I can afford to have the tailgate repainted

I think the grille looks very US, reminds me of a Lincoln Town Car for some reason...

It is a minter of a paint job! It'll look great whatever you do I am sure.
All black wheels?
I love the badges on the back myself...

I thought I'd seen one of these locally and went back today and had a look - it was identical to yours.
I have to say the XG30 badge looks cool - sorta sounds like a prototype number or something! Only saw the rear end of the local one but I did find it very good looking!
