Yeah, this made it onto the rotary forums where we were all suitably angry about it. All it needs is a nice 2-rotor and you essentially have an RX-2. Even with a filthy reciprocating lump in there that's a rare car that deserves better. Sheer barbarism ...on a positive note, should anyone be able to save it I've a couple of badges from an 818 in the garage, to start salvaging the missing trim. It's not much, but it's a start

"I've had this for about a year and never got the v5 sent to me but don't think it was ever sent of as scrapped." So it is salvageable and can be returned to the road by the looks of things.

The guy has taken a supposedly rust free and super rare Japanese motor that has somehow made it to 35 years old, ripped out and binned all the trim and glass, then stuck whats left on eBay. So he doesn’t want it himself and has knackered anyone else’s chances of being able to do something useful with it. WTF is the point of that? These knuckleheads boil my pizz.

the guy selling this paid £500 for it, he says. he stripped it, binned everything and sold it on at a loss.
i hope the buyer is someone who's got a complete but rusty one and can use this. but would imagine that it's headed for the oval. can't be many 818 owners who could use it?

How ridiculous that people of the banger racing community are labelled as morons. With all due respect, we go about buying any car in the same process as you, if it's available to us, it's available to you to save. You as restorers not doing this is not our fault, and with ownership of the vehicle, it is entirely to our descression as to what we do with it. You could get your money out and save it... I don't like to see a car sit in a shed for 6 days of the week and then in a field for a couple of hours at a time, but I don't have the lack of respect to call you a moron for doing so, if anything I respect the fact that you own the car and spend your time effort and money doing what you chose with it.

You've got to question the mentality of the owner. As plums said, the fact the car got to 35 years of age, then one person has potentially doomed it in the click of a finger. Classy.

I'd class anyone who spends good money on something just to spend an afternoon in a shale-strewn field smashing it to pieces as moronic, personally. Oh no, wait, it's the 1% who ruin it for everyone isn't it? Or is that golf?

How many 818 owners do you know?. It's only of a use if someone in the know wants to save/use it otherwise it becomes another RWD salon and fair game for the track. Sooner have it go out in a blaze of glory and people actully get to see it rather than it just be turned into bean cans without a second thought

If the car had been offered to the masses via forums and ebay, then the number of 818 owners would have definitely been +1
