Moderator edit: The majority of cars on trailers aren't stolen. But you never know, you might just spot one that is. If you see a classic or retro on a trailer and can safely take a shot, post it in this thread. Thanks to theheap for the idea.
First of all i am not sure where to put this so it's going here. (sorry if it's ilegal)
It seems to me that a LOT of the cars stolen from us are being towed. I also noticed folks on here take photos for the spotted thread.
My suggestion is since we like taking polaroids of cars can we try our best to take a pick of any vehicle we may see that is on the back of a lorry. Be it council lorry or traveller looking proffesional or not. A simple pic of a car on a lorry stoerd on your phone for just a few days might just help a poor soul who has been unwantingly parted from his/her pride and joy.
The guy who had his Volvo nicked from Herne Hill found his car in Biggin Hill. It was stolen in broard daylight. That means EVERYONE from herne hill to biggin hill saw it and forgot it in a tenth of a second. A picture can't forget.
Hope i am making sense.

That is a perhaps the best idea ive ever heard . Its about the only thing we can all do to stop all these older cars going missing . Are you a member of other forums ? , as the more people on board the better . Retro rides admin - is there anything you can do to promote this idea ?

Not a bad idea. When older cars go Missing I would head to the nearest scrap merchant. I hate to say it but the amount of cars being towed for scrap is horrific. They have more metal than newer cars and the thieves believe the owners won't notice as soon.

That is a tremendous idea to be honest... That would be the only good way of placing a potentially stolen vehicle with the culprit(s)...

This is the sort of thing ^^
We don't have to post them but a few days or so on your phone or what ever deivise you use could make a serious difference to a victim.

Have always tried to make a note of 'interesting' vehicles being moved whilst on my travels and check here if I've seen anything that looks a bit suspect... I agree that keeping a record is a fab idea - but posting the photos (as above) is not. We don't want the driver to get a bad reputation if he's doing an honest job properly; whilst it would be advertisement in a round-about way, it's not a good advert with the stigma of "could be stolen" attached to it.
The photo above does however bring up another good point... the roadside marker sign shows the exact location, which would be very handy if this photo was required as evidence. Good thinking! (or a happy circumstance)

I like the idea as well, i'll try and do the same myself.
How about starting another thread with a title that links to the idea a bit more?

Just saw a dark coloured A reg Granada 2.3L on the back of a red Ford transit recovery on the M6 heading towards Scotland! Probably not stolen but you never know!

Didn't manage to get a photo but spotted a mid age porsche on a beavertail transit on monday morning heading south down the A1 in the south yorks area, It was silver, on a N plate and I believe a 911. Probably innocent but something didnt sit quite right with me.

Sorry for less than accurate details but I have just seen a C-reg' (1985) Ford Capri 2.8i in Paris Blue (fitted with a large bore exhaust system) on the back of a white low-loader recovery vehicle going along New Zealand Avenue in Walton-on-Thames heading towards Walton Bridge... I spotted this moments ago at about 15:12hrs approx'... Probably all above board but I thought I'd bung it on here anyway!
