Here I have my 1987 900 4door saloon flat front. These cars are pretty rare as they are in standard non turbo form and more or less non excistant in turbo form! Then if you add the Trionic t5.5 engine management out of a 1997 then you've got possibly the only 1 in the UK! This car started off as a 2 ltr 8 valve single carb with 100hp, its a bit different now;
B202 T16 turbo engine from 1989 turbo
running with Trionic T5.5 engine management from a 1997 9000, that means crank position sensor (kit from Squaab in the US), coil pack over dizzy, larger injectors, better boost control, mappable ecu, improved drivability, mpg and performance
Type 8 primaries, longest ratio box available, 2800rpm @ 70mph
JT exhaust from down pipe back
255 lph pump with swirl pot
T7 apc boost solenoid
45mm lowering springs
Standard car had 77,000 miles on it and has a very clean interior and head lining, flat paint but an incredibly rust free body except for the 4 doors which have holes in them (common problem on the 4/5 door 900s, curse word metal in the doors)
5 months tax and 6 months MOT
Bad points;
Vibration at 55mph, believed to be driveshaft related.
4 crappy doors as mentioned
If I park up and come back to the car after 20 minutes the turbo will burn oil for about a minute. If its left over night etc no smoke.
Down pipe is standard size and JT exhaust is 3", its a temporary attatchement between the 2 and does blow a bit. Sounds awesome though :-)
The Saab holds 17psi and is making circa 250hp, takes a Monaro a very very long time to start catching back up and induces massive shocked faces and thumbs up from people in WRXs, no lie! :-) Running on standard steels with 185 tyres, it is the very defintion of a sleeper, doesnt even have any turbo badge on it :-)
Car is with me in Yeovil at the minute, £1500 buys it as it is.
