Well here is my ride it started off some 2 years ago when my other half had a prang in my VTR Saxo and I was offered a dirt cheap AX Here it is in all its glory Having been building and racing oval grass track cars for some 18 years now I always had a dream as most young boys do but mine was to have a road legal race car Having acquired the AX and my Saxo looking a little sorry for itself I set about ripping the saxo apart for every item to upgrade the AX front legs, rear beam, engine, box, First job I set about was converting the AX to 4 stud setup (VTR front legs rear disk beam) with decent brakes I then got some decent wheels opting for so Revolution 13x6 [/img]http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g34/kurtis318s/2011-09-03155118.jpg next to come was the engine having spent many years racing mini's then using pinto's and finally using TU power most of my knowledge is based around carb powered cars call me old school at 28 its just how I was brought up I took the decision to a 1.6 block and make it quick as I could having done alot of development with bike carb conversions through my race team (Williams Race Development) I opted for some CBR 900RR fireblade carbs to fuel it Started getting the goodies together

I started building up the engine starting with a TU5J2 bottom end (S2 Rallye) New ACL Bearings Hastings Rings and new high pressure oil pump fresh coat of paint I fitted a 1.4XSI head after a port and polish and new set of springs and valves this coupled with a 645 catcam no pictures of it built up but I was pushed to get it built and in over a weekend to drive to work

By this time it started coming together just slowly I tied the arched to the front and rear panels and cleaned back to bare metal and undercoated the bare metal It looked ok and was starting to take shape but the ride height needed urgent attension.

Excellent stuff, love the way this is going!
Did the AX originally have the alloy block engine?

It did have the 954 alloy block to start with I ran it around for a following 12 months as I broke my foot and spent a lot of time building my partner a new race car see below But then I had 5 days off so it was time for colour after some serious thought I choose my favourite colour plus black

Next came the strip down and prep for paint which just took forever here is a picture of it prior to me starting to take it apart I spent a good 4 hours with various wire wheels on my angel grinder getting rid of the rush and finding clean metal In the mean time I also found a number of bits to weld round the rear passenger window where the tin worm had taken hold And finally one last shot prior to getting some paint down

That looks superb, something i've always wanted to do but with an older base car. Looks hard as nails.

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

Loving the paint just, awesome! It did have the 954 alloy block to start with/quote] Did you bolt the 1.6 bottom end to the original gearbox or did you use a different box?

Love the view from the back, not keen on the front but respect the effort and work to get to where you are. Wheres it heading next?
