Whilst mine is an estate, I did used to regularly gig around London with my full drum kit in the back! There's nothing quite like the looks you get, turning up to a gig and then proceeding to pull that lot out of a Mini! Ringo Starr beat you to it with a regular Mini - albeit in Radford flavour - www.minispace.co.uk/beatles/ringo/index.htm

A few years ago, I went to the local bed shop about 3 miles from home to have a look around. I spoke to the nice salesman and got an excellent deal on a new double mattress which was just what I was looking for. We were in the process of completing the paper work, when he mentioned the £40 delivery charge. £40 for 3 miles? Not likely... I asked him if he had one in stock, and if I could take it with me. He gave me directions to the back of the shop - His face was an absolute picture when I drove round in my Mini... ;D. A couple of bits of rope later, and I was on my way, complete with double mattress tied on the roof. Happy days and £40 better off.
Probably the most tat I've had inside a Mini was my wife and four of her friends on a short journey to the pub! Not something I would recommend on health and safety grounds now of course...

Driver and six passengers was achieved by a guy I went to school with. Another guy took his drum kit to school in a Mini. I never really loaded up any of mine but the biggest thing I member transporting was a big swivel chair upside down in the back seat. I think I had to take the wheels, centre leg, and swivel off the chair and tuck them around it.

Another one here who used to regularly gig with a full 5 piece drum set with a mini. However getting it in the Mini was way easier than the TR7!

As a not entirely relevant aside I once fitted ten bales of hay in the back of an EA Falcon station wagon but they were quite short bales. On another occasion I transported some eight foot sheets of corrugated iron fifty miles in my EN1 Civic 5 door hatchback but they hung out the back a bit and I had to tie the hatch down with a rope.

Not a mini but around 5 years ago I collected a Piaggio Zip SP50 moped from Mablethorpe in the back of a Clio plus passenger in front seat and tailgate shut. Just took the front end off at the yolks and laid it on its side on a sheet of polythene along with the front end and parcel shelf

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

Never had a mini...but I can tell you that you can get a 44 gallon drum into a classic beetle. And I don't mean lying it down. Stands up perfectly if you take the passenger seat out. Secures nicely with the seat belt. Used to use mine to go get Afgas from the airport for my drag beetle.....

Not tat but I went away for a week, many years ago for Mini 40 & Mini in the Park, with the wife & 2 boys. The tent, camping equipment and food went in the boot, we had the folding pushchair on the floor behind the front seats with various items under the seat and above the pushchair. Pillows, camping mats and clothes were placed around the boys, while the passenger footwell was filled with drinks, snacks, etc. My sister, brother in law and their two daughters joined us at Mini 40 in their mini which was also very full!
