This thread has made my day.
Personally speaking, my humble opinion is that as far as I'm concerned if you ask me i think frankly if you want to paint it pink, put a 2 stroke in it and take all the doors off then it's the right thing to do.
Now get out there and kill some nuns.

As it's a 4 door pillarless coupe whatever you do with this car it will be amazing. It puts a big smile on my face to see it getting saved and returned to the road, however if there's one thing I'd like to see on your build it would be.........................................
More pictures of discared kitchen appliences getting welded in the body please, washing machine reclyling into Oldsmobiles is an awesome idea!
I wish you all the best with this, I think it's excellent.

well seeing as matt has done the hard work of starting the thread, I guess I should come out from under my RR rock and post on here... yeah iveco might seem an oddball choice to some, but as matt has already said - I have a couple of engines 'in stock' so no outlay there - they are super reliable old lumps, so no worries about breaking down 1000 miles from home and not being able fix it with a hammer (and a 17mm to crack the injectors...) - they seem pretty happy on veg, ran mine in the pickup on half veg / half derv no problems - and although they are a bit 'truck like' they are actually pretty nice motors, plenty of torque, easily do motorway speeds, and yah, high 30's mpg in a truck weighing over 2 tons, plus a pile of tat in the back - plus there's always the option of boosting it up a bit... - most importantly though, every time I think about working on the old shitter, it makes me happy, and that is something which has been lacking in my car shenanigans recently I feel - just a shame I've got to drive to frigging leeds every time I want to get anything done..

10-04-2013 Today's plan was for Will and Dave to come over, and they could spend time removing the interior while I finished the boot floor. There is no glass in the car, and as we've had a few days of sunshine it was decided that getting the interior out and safely stored in Dave's bedroom should be a priority before it got curse word wet through again. However it wasn't as simple as it could have been. The front split bench is electric but Akku (I assume) had taken the switches, and there was no battery on the car so they didn't work. Most of the bolts were easily accessible, apart from (obviously always the case) 4 that were under the seat runners. They did come out, just with a lot of faffing. That and a T50 socket exploding when trying to remove the rear seat, and then the bolt snapping when I welded a nut to it were about the only issues we had. The floor is amazingly solid. For a car that has been in the wetter end of Europe for all it's life it's incredible. I've seen a lot of 70s GM floorpans, and they're usually either rotten or a patchwork of repair panels. Ours is all original, and apart from a couple of tiny bits behind the rear where it joins the boot floor, in excellent condition. While pulling the interior out we decided to take the rear window out. Sadly the ally trim was entirely stuck on with sickaflex so got bent trying to remove it, but the glass came out fairly easily. It's not as bad as I thought, the parcel shelf looks brand new apart from the very edge. It'll get remade after the chop anyway. The inside of the roof under the headlining is mega surface rusty. When we chop it off we'll be able to stick it upside down on a mattress and set somebody off with a knot wheel on it and clean it up. And finally I managed to get a bit done on the boot floor, another piece of washing machine added and less holey than before. Still got to tie it into one of the floor supports but that piece is pretty much there. Quite pleased with how the welding is coming out, considering one side is washing machine (which I forgot to grind the paint off) and the other side is pitted 40 year old steel.

yeah, switches are with me. ALL the switches in my '67 are curse word and they are mostly the same as the ones in the '73. The ones which are different are the ones I left you

I assume the weekend of the 26th to 28th will include a mammoth detailing session? Can't wait to see this in the flesh (if I can stand far enough back to fit it all in?). Good work so far....high calibre traveller repairs at their very best. I expect no less.
