Will the 1.6 in a y reg Astra fit/replace the 1.6 zafira 51 reg engine ? They look the same and I'm sure I read that they are based on the same floor pan....anyone know for sure ?

are they the same engine and gearbox code? because that's the clue. ie- engine code Z16XE..

Yer mate there the same i got the similar problem, my zafira sliped the cambelt now ive got no compression, the astra and zafira are very close they use the same subframe so if you get a donor astra like I'm goin to ubjust unbolt tge subfrsme and bolt the astra one back in

Cheers nitro,my mrs has an astra,it's great mechanically,she's bought a zafira that smokes a little on start up,so I suggested I pull the engine,box etc and sheet it up in case....she spent money on the Astra,and as it has run out of t&t won't be worth much as resale...visually they looked the same,but I just wanted to get some good opinions....regards jerry.

Thats ok jerry, the astra i just got is too good to take apart got it woth no t&t but will fly through so I'm goin to do that and drive that around till another engine/donor car pops up
