Yes, good work there. I really like it stock and simple : very nostalgic. I had similar chequered cloth in my '81 Chevanne

Good lord, that's gotta be one of the best 2 door mk1's left. Love the photo of it as a wedding car in its early years; sterling work on giving her the fine tlc she clearly deserves. Approved!

33 years have taken its toll on the original dealer sticker. Today though I noticed that it had really let go, cellotape is now holding it together. Can anyone out here help me with someone who can replicate it. I really want this on here as it makes the car. HELP!!!

It's been a while since i last updated this, some minor work and servicing has occurred but recently a far bigger job has reared its head. MK1 Cavaliers and its Manta/ Ascona have a common built in rot spot This is how the areas looked The outer skin was removed to expose the solid but scaley inner reinforced section. Note the crude construction four of these repair panels were bought so as to triple skin the area and ensure the area is as strong as new. Also due to a blocked drain hole the rear of the sills had become slightly holes, the blockage was due to over-enthusisatic rustproofing slight filling and all invisible As the engine and gearbox had to come out to do the chassis areas (the rear of the engine bed had to be dropped down) i took this as a chance to really detail both as well as the front suspension Engine bay BEFORE Due to a leaking rear oil seal the box was filthy, this was degreased and painted Gearbox mount Lower bellhousing plate Whilst doing the box it was noticed that there was too much 'slop' in the selector shaft. A mate of mine made two 'sleeves' to remove it but still give a little float. The selection is now a lot slicker Attention then turned to the engine, yes, i had painted the engine when i first bought it in 2002 but now out of the car i had a lot more access. And i was going to make the use of it. This was stripped down The sump came off for painting block head Rocker cover Rad engine inspection plates starter manifold servo Engine built up The chassis work was done and the engine bay and suspension came in for some work Much better than the 'before' pictures The stabiliser links and rack gaiters were replaced whilst access was good, then today the time came to reinstate the engine and box. Matt Of The Vivas came to help Comrade Pau appeared to help with dropping the unit in. l new clutch, well, why not With some little snags it went in and runs a treat, still got some small jobs to do. But the worst is done Action shot Whilst doing this i replaced the gearbox rear oil seal, speed drive, brake fluid reservoir cap, steering rack gaiters, Stabilser links. It's been a long slog but it was needed to be done. i'm so chuffed how it turned out.

This must be one of the cleanest mk1s kicking about, and being a 2 door makes it even better! Nice job on the engine bay, I can really appreciate it as a detail freak

Awesome! Such a good looking car.
I had one of these about 7 years ago, used it for the daily commute. Lovely to drive, loved the enormous feel of interior.
Happily have enough one any day. Good work sir!

Today i detailed the engine and polished the engine bays paintwork I painted bolts and touched in the very few small chips that appeared from putting the engine in yesterday. This side has far more access than the the other. When i cleaned down the engine originally i noticed on both engiine mounts that yellow paint was over the bolts and washers, I redid these so to keep the originality, was this an anti tamper measure from the factory or part of their QC? Any ideas?

Lovely Cavalier! She looks mint.
In my experience they used to paint nuts like that on the factory line to show that they had been torqued up to tension. Especially important load bearing parts like the engine mounts.
Nowadays it's done on a rig by a robot so not as much human error.

I contacted DMB after Triggs recommendation and less than a week i have this. Now that looks so much fresher it's rolled back the years. It's amazing what a little detail like this can do to a cars appearance Thanks Trigger.
