The reason behind selling the turbo'd Brat was to make space for the new retro ride in my life! I bought this in San Diego back in early July but due to it's size it took until now to get it shipped to the UK. It's a Chevrolet C20 3/4 ton pickup truck with a demountable camper body that was a special ordered from the dealer with the camper body hence why it's called a C20 Camper Special! It's a 1 owner from new only covering 38,800 miles from new when I bought it in July. Engine wise it's got a 350ci V8,3 speed autobox & being the Camper Special it comes standard with air con, heavy duty coil springs up front & heavy duty rear leaf springs, uprated shocks,a massive front anti-roll bar, power disc front brakes,8 stud axles & heavy duty tyres, rear axle is a 14 bolt Dana with a slip diff as standard, twin 20 gallon fuel tanks & a really hefty rear bumper/step combo! It's still got it's original license plates fitted from 1974 inc the dealer surrounds which is a suprise too! It's totally original & the interior has had a new dash cover, new headliner & visors, new carpet & the bench seats had a new cover fitted. Mechanically it's totally stock but as you know with me that won't last but saying that I will only be doing light mods to the engine to remove all the smog/emission stuff that's strangling the motor & obviously a set of pipes to release the V8 soundtrack! Inside the camper it's also all as it left the factory with a few extra's fitted by the 1st owner. Front/side shot, New Interior, Rear/side shot, Side on, Front on, Rear on, Milage when purchased in San Diego, Then when I went to collect it from the bonded warehouse the camper body has been badly damaged so luckily I took out marine insurance & they will pay for repairs that are needed! Here's it in the bonded warehouse in Felixstowe So over the winter i've got plenty to keep me busy getting both the truck & camper body up to a standard i'm happy with! Tim.

That's a very nice looking old C-20 you got there. The Camper Special for the most part is a heavy duty package, stronger springs and beefier shocks and (I think) twin gas tanks were standard. As far as I know, GM did not sell a slide in camper. That would have been sourced from a separate vender. It does look period correct and wouldn't be surprised if it's been in the back of the truck since it was new. Sorry to hear about the damage. That sucks! What motor does it have? I was going to say the emissions curse word wasn't too bad in-regards to trucks for that year, but then I read it was from Kalifornia. By all means, de-smog it! It's good yo see a decent dash board too. Those things crack and turn to dust over time. And they are pretty pricey to replace. Good luck with your new ride!

Yes you are correct with the "heavy duty" spec,i will edit the post now too! Also the bed of the truck is totally unmarked making me think the camper body has been in there the whole time & the trucks tailgate looks brand new as it's in the camper body & is totally unmarked.

I was wondering if you got the tailgate. I've never seen a bumper like the one on the rear either. At least not with the step still attached. The truck looks like a time capsule. Very good score, indeed!

Depending on what time of the year your truck was built, it should already have HEI. If not, it must be an early '74. Good reliable units, HEI. GM did something right with those... I don't know what year GM went to the internally regulated alternators, I recommend that swap too. It's pretty simple. I did that conversion to my brother's '72 C-20. Night and day difference. (I just did the same to my Spitfire yesterday) I vote for the Slots. That stupid TV show 'The Dukes of Hazard' ruined it for the turbines for me. Every time time I see them I thing they should be on an orange Charger.

I love it, rare to see such an original un molested truck, i think its a shame you are going to mod it all, it looks perfect with the patina paint and steels with dog dish caps. IMO of course

Did you just trip over it on holiday or was it a planned purchase?? Always wanted to do something like this for myself. Simple answer really in 2 parts; 1; i've been hankering for a yank pickup for quite a while, 2; Ebay.com has a lot to answer to as that's where I found it & it was a buy it now or submit best offer so I offered $1000.00 less than the buy it now price & with 10 minutes of the 48 hr offer expiry window left the seller accepted my offer! ;D Depending on what time of the year your truck was built, it should already have HEI. If not, it must be an early '74. Good reliable units, HEI. GM did something right with those... I don't know what year GM went to the internally regulated alternators, I recommend that swap too. That stupid TV show 'The Dukes of Hazard' ruined it for the turbines for me. Every time time I see them I thing they should be on an orange Charger. It is an early '74 build as it's still on points & condenser setup in the dizzy. The slots were my 1st choice too but the more I look at the Turbovecs the more I like them,my decision will be made once I test fit both sets & see which one suits the truck in my opinion. I love it, rare to see such an original un molested truck, I think its a shame you are going to mod it all, it looks perfect with the patina paint and steels with dog dish caps. IMO of course The mods i plan to do are only wheels, exhaust & a few power/reliability improvements which can be reversed easily should i decide to!

Wow, that looks awesome. I spent some time in Oz earlier this year and there are loads of these types of trucks, I love them, and have seriously thought about sourcing a similar camper set up for my DoKa. Maybe one day! Look forward to seeing more pics, especially of the inside

Looks well used but solid. I don't see any rot in the walls. Cushions are easy to recover.

Well this weekend i went & saw the caravan repairers & they've quoted £1500 + vat to repair the camper body..... Also i done some mot prep work which was replacing the headlights with right hand drive versions & both wiper blades as they were shot! Mysteriously the heater blower has now started working & the washer pump has decided to take it's place on the non functioning list! Just a marker light bulb at the front & one on the rear to do on the camper body & it's ready for the mot on Tuesday........oh & get the washer pump working again!!
