Fair play to the bloke for saving it but I thought originally his motives were not money motivated? He was quite sentimental about it as he'd worked at Longbridge etc. Of course it's his to do what he wants but I'd rather someone just say "I've decided to make a few quid off it now because I know someone out there will pay a lot of money for it" Whereas, if he was in it purely to save it, he'd say "I no longer have the time and/or resouces to do it myself, so as long as I make back what it cost me to recover it AND it's going to someone who will restore it, I'll be happy" And before someone tries to shoot me down, he's put it out there for everyone to make comments. I'm by no means a head up the chuffer sort of person but I'd rather someone be straight down the line about it than do the exact opposite of what he said in the first place. If I'm honest, if I was in the position to have recovered it, I'd have probably done exactly the same as I know someone out there will pay ridiculous money for it

Whatever happens, the Mini is going to sell for a mint. It's absolutely unique, people pay scene money for them, and it has one hell of a story to go with it. Lets just hope the future doesn't involve replacement of every single panel along with making it look like every other Mini out there...

My guess is that it will end up in Japan, if it does, it'll probably stay as it is as they buy all our historical minis!

£1400 eh...?! I bet someone was HUGELY disappointed...
I think the thing that counts against it (apart from its condition!) is what to do with it... Leave it as it is and it's useless, repair it and it's just another Mini Clubman...

That would be great...!!! I'd love to see that wobbling down the road... I think that would be the only way to keep it unique!

Leave it as it is and it's useless, repair it and it's just another Mini Clubman... It strikes me as the sort of thing that should be in a museum somewhere. A bit like Miss Belevdere, a full-on nut and bolt restoration would, in my view, take away its heart and soul. It should be on a plinth somewhere with a brass plaque bearing the words "Lest we forget".

Was nice to see the people backing you on that mini forum. The coments from the haters cracked me up. Reminded me of a jealous kid, who's mate has been given a PS 3 for Christmas, while he got a sock with an Orange in it

You certainly did give us (and many others...) a good story Steve so we can only thank you for that! Your efforts were epic and that's the main thing...

I think that thread on the mini forum is the longest thread ive ever seen or read. What happened to all the other car parts and shells that were left there when longbridge closed for last time. Remember seeing a photo of loads of mg,s all lined up and just left.
