I love it from the front, but the bed, rear lights and numberplate housing look really awkward

Nice to be different.
He has spent more than a few winters nights on that.

I think the rear end looks good. The slight awkwardness of the proportions really work for me. All it really needs on the rear is either some wider wheels or some spats, just to tie things together with that very nice rear valance.

That's cool - it reminds me a little in concept of that bright yellow Bedford truck from the early nineties...

Too low for my tastes but can't deny it's a cool truck. Done a quick search and the Gaz 53 is a lorry. looking at the pics it seems a lorry front panel has been adapted to fit the pick-up. I wonder therefore it it's simply a Ford F150 with Gaz 53 front panel and rear tailgate ? What about this - didntyouhear.com/its-tuner-tuesday-gaz-51-cadillac-escalade-ext/Gaz 51 panels on Cadillac Escalade chassis running gear Paul H

Nicely done. Love the bonnet vents. Seems strange to see so much ground clearance when the wheels wouldn't have enough room to use it. So shiny & black, somehow I feel it needs more character though.

Yeah I've seen that black thing before. Not my cuppa tea. Not at all. As Cord says, it needs more character (and smaller wheels)! Done a quick search and the Gaz 53 is a lorry. looking at the pics it seems a lorry front panel has been adapted to fit the pick-up. I wonder therefore it it's simply a Ford F150 with Gaz 53 front panel and rear tailgate ? No, the lorry in the OP shows how the bonnet, cab etc are all Gaz. In fact, have you read the OP? I mentioned about the whole lorry thing. Anyway, here is a more up to date pic: Never gets old for me, kinda don't want it to be finished.

Oh yes please. Thanks for showing us that.
There's an obvious debt of influence to the Ford F series in the styling but the front also makes me think a bit of an International Harvester truck. I often think it's a bit ironic that lots of the vehicles designed in the Soviet Union were so obviously American looking.

I love that you post this eastern bloc shizzle, but just how do we get hold of one for ourselves?

What a colour choice!
Can't help thinking it hit its peak in the first post in red oxide with no lights.
Far nicer feel to it than any US pickup which have always left me a little hesitant on front end styling.
